When I upgrade to OS X Lion, I could choose the traditional chinese hand writing as the input method but it doesn't work. I can't input chinese character by using handwriting

谢谢!

I'm a kind of bi-linguial(Korean & English) who wants to become tri-lingual(adding Chinese to my tongue, I'm studying hard). 😉

Hand-writing is a great idea in function itself but with too many bugs especially when you change writing mode amog 3 totally different shaped characters. 😠

My problem was

Handwriting window appears and the character recognized but the chosen character isn't put on the application.

This happens when you struggling 3 kinds of characters in a document by pressing caps-lock, space + command, control + shift + space, etc. Oh, really annoying.

Whenever this happens, I had to restart the machine but your solution solve this problem.

One of my question -you don't have to answer- is... how did you find this complex procedure? 😁

It seems to me(as an engineer) really difficult to solve because focusing rule for this handwriting drawing window and other applications are totally different. But not impossible to solve. Very surprised during this problem persists for one year.

The problem is that US/Korean apple staff doesn't care about Chinese handwriting and my Chinese is not good enough to blame this.

The only solution to me is to study Chinese very hard enough to report this bug in Chinese to Apple China staff? 😕

Anyway, I wrote the bug report to Apple's feedback website including the amazing solution. I capture video with the link below. Thank you again!

Since 10.8 is now the current OS and apparently doesn't have the bug, it seems unlikely Apple is ever going to do anything about problems like this in the older one.

The Youtube video is captured with following version:

10.8.2 + supplemental update is done in 2012.Oct.8. The video is captured in the last weekend or Monday morning. And I never learnt Chinese before installing 10.8.2. So I've never had happy time editing my study note. 😢

People describing the same problem here also seem to have the similar version. (without supplemental update, seeing their posting time.)

And I doubt this -seemingly synchronization while focusing in/out of some layers including hand-writing IME- can be solved with just the most minor(X.X.NUMBER) version upgrade. I was just surprised X.NUMBER.X's upgrade even skipped solving this problem.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about 10.7, since that is what this forum and this thread are devoted to. My point was that Apple is not going to fix such bugs in 10.7, but only 10.8.

If you do think there is a problem with 10.8, be sure to post it in the forum devoted to that version, so that people using 10.8 will see it. Also it is good to indicate clearly in your posting profile what OS version you are using.

The poster just before you, eric160, said it worked fine in his 10.8.
