anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?

is anyone else having major problems with Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard?

- address bar and search box are not resizing with browser window. the address bar and seach box set their size to the window when Safari is launched and remain that size.

- anytime i try to customize toolbar items disappear and i have to restart Safari to get them to appear.

- some 3rd party icons just remove themselves from the toolbar after a period of time

- when i drag a page from the tab bar to create it's own browser window the window disappears but is listed in the windows menu bar. when i select that window from the menu bar the window appears but i can't click on anything.

I've repaired permissions numerous times, reinstalled safari numerous times and restarted my machine numerous times and the issues all remain. i've never had any issues with Safari until now and 5.1 is looking like a huge mess.

besides the bugs above, has anyone had any luck with 1password working with Safari 5.1?

now my back/forward buttons, print button and mail button in the toolbar are all greyed out and i can't click on any of them.

yes, the same problem here. Using Firefox until this is fixed.

Really annoying. Its unusable. What is going on???

As for the 1Password just open 1password go to preferences > browsers > click on "Install Safari Extension" button.

ok, i narrowed most of my issues down to Web Snapper and Videobox by TastyApps. Removed both of those and now everything works better.

I went out to lunch and came back an hour later and magically ALL of my previous toolbar icons that were added to my previous version of Safari appeared. Very strange.

as for 1password, it wasn't working at all before when i posted. everytime i tried installing the extension via the app my, Safari would open a window and hang (never load). I just tried it again and it seems to now be working.

I installed Safari 5.1 on my 2006 iMacCore Duo 1.83, 2GB memory. Since launching the new Safari i get the spinning pinwheel most of the time and have to do a force-quit. Lastpassword doesn't seem to work also.

I just uninstalled 5.1 and went back to Safari 5.0.5.

For me Web Snapper was the culprit. Seem to be working fine now.

Shoot tastyapp an email. I sent them one this morning and they didn't even know safari 5.1 had been released and told me that apple is now not allowing 3rd party plugins, instead forcing everyone to go the extension route. Websnapper used a plugin with safari which was causing a lot of problems. Let sent me a beta extension that when clicked launches the app to capture the page.

Lenn,

How did you go back to the Safari 5.0.5?

When I launch Safari 5.1, all I get is the spinning wheel, and nothing happens. I've tried to find a way to roll-back Safari, but can't find any info on it.

I had a backup of my Applications folder from a few weeks ago so I just dumped Safari 5.1 and copied over 5.0.5.

either from a backup as lenn5 mentioned or by using time machine - of course if you aren't backing up or using time machine then you can't revert using either of those options

I have huge performance issues when playing HTML5 videos (youtube). The "Safari web-content" task uses 100% of CPU until the video content is loaded completely, after that its fine. I don't have any problems with flash - how ironic

I was having all sorts of problems. Deleting Quartz Composer.webplugin solved my problems. Sad that an Apple plug in for Safari broke Safari.

Dang, I haven't got a back up to refer to - I don't back up my applications. Thanks for the reply.

Does any one know what's going on? WIll Apple realese something to stop this happening soon?

my guess is that your problem has to do with a conflict with a 3rd party extension/plugin. if it is then apple won't do anything since the problem is with the company who made the 3rd party extension/plugin.

if you have any plugins or extensions install i suggest removing them and then try and launch safari

When I go to Help > View Installed Plug-ins, it openes up another Safari, and that too crashes! Is there a work around to see what plug-ins I have on my browser?
