Lion LaunchPad duplicate app

I don't have a solution to this but I do have the same problem. If anyone knows how to correct this, it would be very helpful.

Also, does anyone know why some apps don't show up in LaunchPad?

I have moved to trash „folder Applications“ from „Applications in left pane“.

I also have this problem - will be looking out for a solution or a fix because moving or erasing the duplicate apps seems a little risky.

If there are multiple instances of one application within the programs folder, launchpad lists both. that may happen, if you for example moved one app into one folder and ran an update.

Delete the old version in the programs folder and the duplicate entries will disappear.

I tried it, and it worked a few of them, but most of them won't go in to the trash because I get an error message saying that they cannot be deleted because they are required by Mac OS X. can I get around this?

Can it be that you are trying to delete the current files?

Maybe - when I open the application folder, the icon app is only listed once. only when I open the launch pad is the app duplicated.

Please check whether there is a copy of the app in one sub folder of the applications folder.

Yes, I did look in all the folders trying to find duplicates, but there weren't any.

I had this problem and realized that I had created an alias folder to have in the dock for OSX Snow Leopard so it could pop up in the side window, which were duplicates of my apps as aliases. So once I deleted that folder and all the aliases, my dups were all removed from Launchpad.

I have the same problem of duplicate icon after upgrading iMovie through the App Store.

I would hope there is a way to remove a single icon you don't want, without removing the application, but didn't find it.

The only thing that I found to "reset" the Launchpad is the following (thanks to TUAW) ...

Pay attention : doing this will also reset all customization made in Launchpad (groups, positions, ...)

• Launch Terminal
• Navigate to the Dock application support folder (cd ~/Library/Application\ Support/Dock)
• Open the folder (open .) and drag all the .db files to the trash
• Restart Dock (sudo killall Dock, followed by authentication)
