Lion doesn't begin installation, stuck on 'Preparing to install'

I've just purchased Mac OS X Lion from the Mac App Store, and started the installation. However after accepting the license agreement and installation disk, I get stuck on the screen that says "Preparing to install. Your computer will restart automatically":

After waiting more than half an hour, nothing had changed so I cancelled the installation. I then restarted the machine and tried again, but again the installer got stuck on this screen.

Digging around I found this error in the console logs which appears to be the cause:

Reason: image not found

Does anyone know what this means? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

It turns out that the problem was my firewall — the answer is that I had to disable my firewall during installation.

My firewall is Little Snitch, which automatically blocks unknown applications from accessing the network. Normally it pops up a confirmation box asking whether the application is permitted; but in this case nothing appeared. I realise now that my copy of Little Snitch was a few versions behind on 2.2.1... the latest version 2.4 is compatible with Lion.

I dont know about the error but my installation installed on that screen as well for a long time...The issue seemed to be I did not have a working internet connection. As soon as I swithed to a good networked it begun...

Thank you! I also got stalled at "Preparing to install". After I chose the Wifi menu item and logged into my local wifi, the installation worked normally.
