All my files in Office 2004 will open in Open Office. Not a solution, but at least I can access archived files.
A.L.F., if you keep sticking your tongue in your cheek like that, it will sprain.
Yea dream on, MS Office is still the standard. I hope my 2008 works or I will be p***d off
Anyone upgrading should check the status of different apps and how they will react to the upgrade. One such place is:
Dear CSound1... I'm more than convinced that A.L.F. is employing sarcasm. In print it's not always obvious (no accompanying wry smile (or even a smiley). In this case, however, I think it's rather clear that mockery is very much in use.
I can see a lot of software that has problems but that Apple continues to sell on their App Store, am I missing something?
Thanks for the link, made me worry even more!

You had 7 years, and you can still use it (with a little work)
Upgrade to 2011 or bite the other bullet, progress is sometimes erratic.
Doesn't phase me. I have a fully functioning installation of Sno, backed up, and can use it whenever I need to. Indeed, I have and updated and backed up installation of Tiger. No sweat. I'll save my pennies for something I really need.

How does one upgrade to MS Office 2011? It is not showing up in the Mac App Store.
Lion will also not support Quicken 2003. I have lost all my data for over 6 years. Cannot find the necessary qdfm file to have Intuit convert.
When a basic program works for my basic need I don't feel I have to run out to buy the latest edition just for fancy bells and whistles and new interface. Both quicken and my Mac Office worked fine unbtil Lion ate them both.
Upgrading to Lion will cost me over $200 for nee software that is compatible. I wish they had given a warning in the description. I would have properly prepared. We all not all techno geeks that know everything or can intuit.
Lion also changes settings without giving the option of saving old setting. Lions is very pretty, but that seems to be about it.
Buy it from Microsoft or from a computer retailer.
You can actually download the free trial for 30 days and then buy. You can buy from Amazon for the disc or at the end of the 30 days buy from Microsoft.

So what was your rationale for upgrading to Lion then?
Yes they should have given the information.
If you were a registered user of Quicken for Mac (at least of Quicken 2007), you should have received an e-mail from Intuit recently warning you about the problem.
Because one does not expect the Spanish inquisition.
A bit of Mac arrogance being shown.
How hard is it to warn of the potential that programs will not be supported.
