sync problem with itunes 64 bit

Hi, it's impossible to sync an iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.4 64 bit (sync in one step and in only few seconds but actually it do nothing) and cannot install iTunes 32 bit on windows 7 64 bit. Never had that problem on 32 bit.

What can I do?

iPhone 4, Windows 7

It seems impossible on my computer. I've downloaded iTunes 10.4 via iTunes update and seperately from the apple website. I've reloaded several times, deleted, rebooted, re-installed, all maner of combinations. It still fails to sync both my iPhone and my ipod classic. It trys to start syning automaticall when I plug in the device even though I have set iTunes not to automatically sync. It fails to sync and either just hangs or asks me if I want to restor from the previous sync, which of course failed. Any number of other error messages....

Very frustrating. Clearly a bug!

Will download again in a couple of days when apple secretly produce a fixed version without admitting their problems

10.4.0.80 mostly music issues.

This is clearly an issue. I also have it set to not auto sync, and it is.

The issue I'm having is music, on both my Iphone4 and my itouch. The music is not syncing since updating.

It will only sync just a few songs. I've attempted playing with playlists, genres, reverting... nothing works.

Even if you have asked it to sync the entire library or just parts of it, like some play lists, frankly, nothing works.

I'm annoyed.

I thought sync problems would go away after the new iTunes 10.4 update. It wasn't and this is extremely disappointing!

My iPhone 4 have been facing issues sync in a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit environment iTunes since the previous versions of it. Frequently it failed to sync and prompting for restore. It's fine if one or two contacts are gone from such restores, but the worst thing is that it always say unable to establish a backup session with iPhone and failed to do anything. How am I suppose to get my phone backed up? Things just got worst, now I can't even open any apps from my spring board!! Any apps none native to iPhone fresh restore will be unable to be opened..it just turns into black screen and return back to spring board.

I hope this is a channel of customer feedback that Apple would take note. For now I'll be happy with a solution to get my apps back on working..

I'm having the same issue W7 64bit with the new update 10.4.0.80. It starts to sync and gets to step 3 sometimes and hangs when backing up I have to use task mgr to quit the application. I don't want to install the new iphone update until I backup my data. Since multiple people are having this problem it appears that this is definately a bug in the software.

I worked though this issue today on my PC and I have it working.

The piece that worked for me was that you have to uninstall apple components in a specific order. I also rebooted my pc after the uninstalls were complete. I found this on the apple support site (see below).

Uninstall in the following order:

iTunes

QuickTime

Apple Software Update

Apple Mobile Device Support

Bonjour

Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

I then reinstalled 64bit Itunes by saving the package, right clicking and run as administrator.

This reinstalled itunes then I recieved another error, iphone could not be synced 13019. I researched this and I found out that the itunes library could not find one or more of my music files in the library these are denoted by an exclamation mark. I either had to delete the files or double click on the files and click locate and then point them to the location of the missing files. After I had found all of the files it was able to sucessfully sync and all is good.

I hope this helps...

Let me chime in and say I too had the exact same problem - did exactly what you did. No errors. Synced fine - BUT WAIT - everything went sideways with the last QuickTime update - reverting back to the same sync problem. Now I can't roll back Quicktime to a working version and the reinstall was fruitless. What a waste. Wake up Apple - please fix this!!!!

The problem for me was related to syncing with MS Outlook 2010. Here was my solution: Plug in the iPhone 4, immediately select the device sync options and locate the tab where the sync options for Outlook are, uncheck them. Immediately the phone began to sync just fine. What's more, iTunes rechecked the options I unchecked once the sync was completed. Feeling gutsy, I unplugged the phone, waited a few seconds, then plugged it back in - it then worked just fine, syncing Outlook as well. Oh - to be safe I did run scanpst.exe prior to this and the process DID find errors, so I suggest doing that to play it safe. Not sure it had any bearing on the issue.
