Tried to update after installing Lion. No deal.

Same here. 27" iMac
I have the same issue on my MBP (Mid 2010). Rang Applecare, and after a reasonable length of time suggesting fixes, they said basically just wait til Monday and try again..
My mum's MB Air had no problems installing it though.
Yep, glad it's not just me 2.4ghz mbp - same deal
Try creating a new admin user account, download iTunes and install from that account. Worked for me. When I subsequently returned to the original user account, iTunes then opened and updated my library. See if this works for you.

I've ran across the same issue on a 2010 MacBook Pro 17" i7 as well as a Mac Mini 2009. The MacBook Pro is running Lion as of this morning and the Mac Mini is still on Snow Leopard. Neither system is able to install any Software Updates as of today. I've never run across this problem in the past. I don't really feel comfortable upgrading the Mini to Lion while this occurs; hopefully it's just a bug Apple will fix soon.
Wow, that worked! Thanks!
Thanks Joe!
That worked for me too
(Create new admin account, install itunes there then switch back to regular user)
Weird as that is, creating a new admin account worked! Must be something wrong with the User privileges?
Thank you. Success.
+1 to installing iTunes update whilst logged in as a local administrator account. Worked for me. So, recoomend people try logging in with administrator privileges and then re-attempt the download/update cycle.
This DID NOT work for me. Getting pretty frustrated. 2008 MacPro, I have my iTunes pointed to an iTunes folder on and external drive. Tried creating a new user and came up with the same error when I tried to install on that profile.
Any other suggestions?
Me too. The iTunes update (10.4) failed after updating the OS to Lion.
great, it works. Could i delete the new admin account? Or could i delete the old one (but i need to copy all informations to the new one !
I thought I'd updated to 10.4 prior to installing Lion update. but then software update suggested I needed to do it again? This failed twice then worked correctly on 3rd attempt.
Now my problem is that iTunes crashes when I try to sync my photos to my iPhone - it was OK with my iPad - go figure???
Have now discovered that iTunes only crashes when attempting to sync one particular folder of photos??
There are over 1700 in there! - maybe this is the problem.
Exactly the same prob here. Come on apple sort it out!
