Lion, App store download problems

Anyone else having trouble downloading Lion from the App store? I've paid for it, it tells me I've paid for it but trying to download it sits there for 5 minutes with a 'Waiting' message over its icon in the taskbar then stops. There's an error in the list of purchased items next to Lion, "an error has occurred" . Helpful. downloaded a couple of free apps just to test, that seems to be fine. Lion only. Oddly, while it's sitting there waiting, despite there being no apparent network activity in the Activity Monitor, it's hammering my internet.

I'm having the same issue. I click install and it says 0 bytes of 3.74 GB before quitting and saying "an error has occurred". I've tried restarting my computer, restarting the app store app, and cancelling the download and restarting. My router is an apple time capsule and I've tried connecting wirelessly and directly to it with an ethernet cable. Nothing seems to be working. I've tried to download on both my iMac and my macbook with the same results. Hopefully this issue gets resolved sometime soon. Very frustrating!

I had the problem and found a solution.

1. Open Terminal

2. Enter

defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true

3. Relaunch the AppStore

4. Choose the menu item Debug Menu -> Reset App

5. Choose in one of the menus Check for Available Downloads…

I also rebooted after this. Not sure if that was needed though. Then I could find the Lion update in the Applications folder.

Hope this works.

Same problem here on a MacBook Pro and a Mac Pro. I get the exact same error message. First is says waiting to download the after a few minutes I get "a error has occured". I have been trying to download for nearly 24 hours. I emailed support but so far have only received the canned response of we will get back to you. I tried the Debug menu solution but it did not work. Hey Apple, are you listening? You already have my money!

Here is all I could find so far as a work around. I have checked the 2Wire configuration page but I do not see how to put the modem in bridge mode. I am using an Airport Extreme connected to my2Wire via ethernet as my wifi router so I do have another router available if I could understand how to implement this solution presented below. Perhaps someone more network savvy than me could come up with a procedure to implement this solution. Below is the quote from another discussion board (not an Apple forum) discussing the general 2Wire 2GB file limitation problem. The discussion quoted below is not referencing the AppStore download issue specifically. It is a general discussion on the apparent 2GB file limit for the 2Wire 2701 router.

"Yes, it does indeed seem like the modem is the culprit. I'm using the 2Wire 2701HG-D with the QT04-6.1.5.48 firmware update that was forcibly downloaded by Qwest a while back. I discovered that other people had had similar problems downloading large files with this modem after the firmware update.

I was able to get the download to work by setting the modem to operate in transparent bridging mode and connecting it up to an old Linksys router I had lying around operating in PPPoE mode. The file downloaded perfectly once I did that. It seems like the PPPoE capabilities of the 2701HG-D are flawed."

I did locate unofficial step by step instructions for putting your Qwest modem inTransparent Bridge mode with an Airport Extreme serving as the wireless router. Unfortunately, the process is not simple and it requires obtaining a static IP address from Qwest. This is more than I want to do so I have emailed Qwest customer support and asked for a different modem, one without the 2GB file limitation. I don't expect a very responsive answer, but I will sumarrize their response when I receive it and post it here.

If you do a search on the Internet with this phrase: "Qwest Transparent Bridge w/ Airport Extreme PPPoE Setup" you will find unofficial instructions for putting your Qwest supplied router inTransparent Bridge mode.
