Can't see multiple spaces from mission control

I have six spaces open, but when I enter mission control, I don't see the 6 windows up top; they are invisible. If I click in the general location I'll get to the space, but I can't see any images of the six spaces which are peppered with apps. Its blank up top. Need a fix. Thanks

Same issue, but some additional quirks...


My first and main space won't display a desktop image, rather only shows the thatched gray texture. upon swiping into mission control from ANY space, the thatched grey returns and all other spaces are completely absent. Mission control is 100% broken (even after multiple restarts) on my late 2008 15" MBP.
