can't delete files from sidebar
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7)
Try holding down the command key while you drag instead of the old simple drag. If that doesn't work, try the control key. (Sorry, I don't remember which one it is.)
It's the command key. Hold the command key and drag the file out of the window and you will get the puff of smoke. Thanks! This was driving me nuts as well!
Thank's for your help JavaMac
that was really making me frustrated... YOU GUYS are AWESOME!
This assumes that you can actually highlight the file in the sidebar. I have a file called "photo.jpg" in my sidebar that I can't get rid of because I can't actually highlight it by clicking (nor by moving the cursor up and down.) Any suggestions?
It can still be removed as explained above (folders also.) Hold the command key and click the cursor onto the file/folder, then drag it away. It won't highlight, but can still be moved.
Many thanks.
Thank you so much, this solved my problem. I had no idea I was really selecting the item because it wasn't actually highlighting it when I clicked on it.
Hi,
I had an orhpanded link to a networkshare which does not exist anymore. With the "cmd" key pressed down I was able to dump the favorite to the trash.
Thank you.
Cheers
Robert
