10.7: can't add event to shared calendar

I just upgraded to Lion and once of the first things I tried to to in the new iCal was to add an event to a shared calendar, something I have done many times before. Now I'm getting the following message:

"Access to “___” in “_______” in account “_____@me.com” is not permitted.

The server responded:

“403”

to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

I'm also having this problem since upgrading to Lion.

Specifically, I am the MobileMe Family account controller/admin. A shared calendar that I created and invited my wife to with "View/Edit" permissions has been working well on her Macbook, iPhone, and iPad - until Lion. She can no longer create entries in this shared calendar from iCal on her Lion Macbook. She can create entries in this shared calendar from her iPhone, iPad, and the MobileMe web application.

I called Apple and reported this issue. They also showed me a way around it! You can delete your shared calendars, then go to iCal preferences then Accounts and add a new Account set up as MobileMe. Then everything works! The only catch is that you have to have the username and password for the MobileMe Account that you are adding!

I hope that Apple fixes this soon, but the work around works fine if you have access to the other MobileMe account.

I hope they come up with a proper solution too. Their solution will work but if shared calendars are deleted in mobile me then all the new accounts need to be added to every device, iphone, ipads etc. It also creates security issues in our company where we dont want everybody having full access to each others accounts.

I fear they will not be working on a solution with the icloud on the way as a replacement for mobile me.

Any further news gratefully received!

Just been playing with this and found something strange. I have my calendar, another directors calendar and the general company calendar.

Ical will allow me to post to any shared calendar that is set as the default calendar (Ical preferences >general)

By setting the default calendar to "last selected calendar" it enables me to select "calendars" at the top of the ical diary, click on the required calendar I want to make an entry into, and then click on a day tomake an entry as normal. It is accepted by the system no problem then.

Not an ideal solution but it saves having to make account changes to all devices. As 90% of the time I am making an entry into one calendar it works for me.
