I'm having the same issue on my iMac 24 with Magic Trackpad. It worked the first time and now it's not working anymore.
On my Macbook Pro, it's still working - so I think there is something that went wonky. I read somwwhere tha tif you turn off all the selections and trun them on again, that may fix the issue. I'm not at home so I can't try that.
Any help would be great appreciated.
Cheers
Rudy
That worked for me. Thanks!

Aug 4, 2011 2:52 PM in response to TigerFrankby changingparadigm,A few things you may want to try. I was able to get my track pad to work by doing the following:
1. Deleting the device in your bluetooth devices and repair it
2. Turn off all your gesture preferences in the trackpad settings
3. Close your preferences
4. Go back to your trackpad preferences and re enable all the gestures

Aug 11, 2011 10:24 PM in response to changingparadigmby thezimbo,I had the same problem on my MacPro. The fix was very simple, I turned off all options for the trackpad under system preferences and merely turned them back on and voila all working again. One thing to note however before I did this I tried the four finger swipe holding down the option key and this worked.
Just as a recap.
1. Turn all options off in trackpad under system preferences
2. Quit system preferences
3. Re-open system preferences, open trackpad
4. Turn all options required back on, all should be working as normal by now
5. Quit system preferences.

Aug 15, 2011 6:28 PM in response to TigerFrankby Joe Free,I had the same problem on my imac.
Here is what worked for me. First, turn off the 3 finger drag. Then go to the "swipe between full screen apps" and set it to 4 finger. Then go back and turn on 3 finger drag.
I think what happens is when it automatically switches to 4 finger it runs into problems.

Aug 22, 2011 6:56 PM in response to TigerFrankby Richard Gaitskell,I have the same issue with Lion 10.7.1. Any word if Apple are going to fix it?
For the time being does one have to take the steps recommended above for every user account on the machine, or does fixing it for one user, benefit all on that machine?

Oct 22, 2011 5:23 AM in response to Rudy Milkovicby Krissypaps,I was having the same problem. I deselected all of the gestures and then reselected them. It seems to have brought the 4-finger swipe back. For now.

Oct 31, 2011 1:06 AM in response to Krissypapsby DualiCah,Yepp, that did the trick for me too.
Just deselecting all options for the trackpad and then reselecting them was all I had to do!
Thanks for the help

Nov 8, 2011 9:13 PM in response to TigerFrankby JamesHDenver,Oddest thing, this has been happening to me on Lion but it seems like it kind of mangles the 3-finger and 4-finger motions. I have mine set to 4 for mission control, expose etc. This gets translated into 3 finger gestures.
The fix for me? Pulling the batteries from the trackpad and putting them back in.
I definitely think it is a bug of some nature.

Dec 17, 2011 12:22 PM in response to TigerFrankby osXCanada,I have a brand new macbook pro, 500 gigs of SSD drive!! Boots in 10 seconds... Anyway, point is, suddenly the 4 finger swipe up to get to mission control, stopped working. It seemed to kind of go like F11 does. I am posting this, because none of the threads I saw tried what I did ,and it worked for me. Restart your computer and hold down the command key, option key and letters r and p. All four of those keys together. When you reboot, keep holding those keys, until the computer chimes twice. (The boot chime). This is called zapping the pram, and it got my Mission Control working properly again. I earn my living taking care of 1,000 macs and 100 laptops as well as 18 servers. Not that I know it all, cause I don't, but I see a lot of stuff!

Dec 17, 2011 12:24 PM in response to osXCanadaby TheSmokeMonster,That is what is called a PRAM reset
Glad it was able to work for you however I've suggested and I've seen others suggest doing this when it sounds right to do so.

Mar 16, 2012 8:36 AM in response to TigerFrankby kevin spake,Same problem. Like many others suggested, I unchecked all the trackpad options, shut down, then restarted and reset the options and it works fine now.
