Sound like it may be an unsupported plugin. Try this: Click 'Safari' from the menu bar, then choose 'Preferences'. From there choose 'Security'. To test, uncheck 'enable plugins'. If that works it's then a matter of figuring out which plugin. Also check for something called 'Conduit' in the root or user library. If you find 'Conduit' move it to the trash then restart

Yeah. That solved someone else's issue. I just tried it and now my Safari is all hosed up. Hah Hah.

I did a Shutdown first. The system came back a lot quicker than I expected after pressing the Power button but it also restarted a couple of programs that were running before. Very strange. Apparently I did close down Safari because I had to start that back up. It seems to have duplicated my windows and tabs. I then Restarted the system. Much slower this time (probably because I was watching) and I noticed my external disk getting rebuilt. Again a couple of the Safari windows duplicated and I got Untitled tab names in a waiting state. Selecting the tabs pulls up the correct URL and corrects the the display once the web page is refreshed.

I suspect there is not a major problem. Just though this was odd and maybe it will be of help if someone else sees this behavior. It seems like there are some other Safari threads popping up now.

Thanks for the question. I hope the update continues to go smooth for you.

I'm with you, waiting for Cupertino to get back to the office this morning (day #2 after Lion release) ... my experience ...

Firstly, Lion is awesome, but ...

I cannot do anything in Safari 5.1 and it seems that the rest of the world can't either. I am constantly presented with a dialogue box asking me if I want to "Force Reload" all the tabs in all the windows in order to proceed with viewing the page I'm trying to look at, which I can't apparently because it's not loading -->>

seems like a circular trap that I can't get out of!

It's even buggered up the one and only plug-in I use "Sessions" so since Safari has already lost track of where I was before the Lion upgrade, I fear that I will never get back all my carefully chosen everything -->>

massively inconvenient is an understatement.

I would submit that your assertion that no one can use Safari in Lion is a misnomer. I have been using it just fine since my upgrade to Lion last night. I am going to have to figure out how to selectively turn off Resume for Safari, but other then that, I have had no issues with Safari 5.1.

Any sort of discussion group on the Internet is going to be rife with the complainers, luddites, and those who did not read before taking the upgrade. To be certain, there will be those with genuine problems or questions about how to do something. But, to use this data to assume that no one can use Safari is gross hyperbole and a mis-statement of the issue.

Now, to be sure, Apple will have to look at the data coming in from users who have upgraded to Lion or Safari 5.1 on Snow Leopard and if the see some issues there, I am sure they will address them as soon as they can.

To that end, I would encourage any one with real issues to submit that to Apple Support as well as submit their feedback directly to Apple via the established feedback system.

What ever you do , don't delete Safari, I did because of the same issue and I had to reinstall lion by holding down command R at restart, apparently there are no component install for Lion and reinstalling is the only way Togo

More over, I logged in as another user with No other plugin and Safari worked just fine.

So I take it has to do with my plugins and also firefox works great with no issues as matter of fact fast and furious

But like to get Safari working again. Fun fun fun

Rebooting alone did not solve the problem for me. I decided to something that seemed like a silly and useless attempt, but I rebooted holding command-R and ran Disk Utility. The drive was fine, so I fixed permissions while I was there and guess what? Problem solved.

I am curious to know if anyone else has found that this works for them also -- an alternative solution if rebooting alone doesn't help!
