No, I'm having the same problem. The message I get says that the browser is not supported. I have downloaded the .dmg for Network Connect and tried it independently of Safari, but still without luck.
Also having the same problem! I hope someone fixes soon, this is a big issue for me.
Okay, I think I found the solution and it seems to be pretty easy.
Go to your Applications > Utilities folder and double click on the "Java Preferences" app.
I am assuming you had java installed previously. If you don't have this app, you will have to to to Apple and download java for 10.7.
The Software Updater will pop up saying you need to install java for 10.7, and it will ask if you want to do that now. If you say yes, then it will download and install java for you.
Once that is done, launch "Java Preferences" and make sure "Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications" is checked at the top of the window.
Quit the app, and you should be ready to connect as before.
Yes, this works. Don't forget the checkbox under the Java Preferences as pointed out.
Tested under 6.5R5.
No, sadly still not working for me. I get a popup window telling me my browser is incompatible even though I am using Safari.
Java preferences was the first place I looked, but Safari had already offered to install the Java runtime so it was already listed. Checkbox is also ticked.
If you have the Develop menu in Safari... try setting your user agent to Safari 5.0.6.
This did not work. I don't yet have lion, but I did test safari 5.1. Can someone with lion rename and install the older version of sarfari found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1422, try it and let me know if it works.
This worked for me on OS X Lion and Safari 5.1(7534.48.3)
Thanks!!
Thanks, joebella. This worked perfectly for me, too. Safari 5.1, Network Connect v6.4.
We don't use Juniper network connect. The other answers don't work for me either.
I was having a similar problem with NC after upgrading to Lion. Here's how I fixed it:
1. Drag "Network Connect.app" to Trash.
2. In terminal, run these two commands:
sudo sh /usr/local/juniper/nc/install/uninstall_nc.sh
sudo rm -fr /usr/local/juniper
3. Reinstall Network Connect. (The easiest way to do this is to go your VPN web site and login. On my site after I log in, it automatically reinstalls Network Connect.)
What version of Juniper are you folks running? We are still on 6.x (I'll have to check on what X is, I think its 5)
I enabled the java "enable applet plug-in and web sstart applications" and it still gets stuck on our host checker screen. I set the developer Safari 5.0.6 and it actually gets past host checker, but does not present an option for network connect.
This tells me that host checker is running but no longer seeing what it needs to see (?) for the network connect option to be presented. I was told by Juniper that an update needs to happen but it won't be availble until September.
Can someone verify they can actually get a network connect session working using Lion and safari 5.1 and how they got it to work, and what version of Juniper they are on?
If we need to get to 7.x we can do it on a test box but moving production there will take a good long time. We *just* enabled the Mac VPN service at our company, and now those upgrading to Lion are finding themselves once again without VPN capabilities. This is a real problem as we don't control weather they upgrade or not, and everyone wants to get to the latest OS.
Juniper is on its last legs at our company. This is probably the straw... they should have had this tested by now.
I have successfully used the Juniper client (Network Connect) on my MBP 17" with Lion 10.7 at least 3-4 times since I followed the original directions. My customer has confirmed for me which version they have:
6.5.0 per the SAM (DisplayVersion=6.5.0.14951)
Net Connect [Network Connect 6.5.0] DisplayVersion=6.5.0.14951
It works quite well and I've had no drops or difficulty in connecting.

Which original directions were followed - just the "enable applet plug-in..." checkbox?
I have two things listed under java preferences:
Java SE 6 65-bit version 1.6.0_26-b03-383
Java SE 6 32-bit version 1.6.0_26-b03-383
We also have 6.5.0 for Juniper.
I enabled this check-box and still cannot get it to prompt to allow netowrk connect. This *could* be a server side configuration, but since it worked previously with Snow Leopard and the previous version of Safari I'm guessing I'm missing something on my end.
Host checker for us doesn't do much. For Windows its checking for antivirus software etc. For Macs its not checking for any of that.
Something is telling Juniper not to allow the option for network connect, thus no network connect software can be installed either.
Thanks - I really need to get this working...
On our end, it was recommended to start Safari in 32-bit mode, and that seems to work reliably MOST of the time. On occasion, I get the Java loader running, but netconnect simply doesn't get launched. If I close Safari and re-open it and start again, it works fine.
Also, not sure if others have this ability, I saved the Juniper Netconnect to my dock, and I have launched
it directly and that seems to work reasonably well too -- it skip[s starting the browser and having it try and launch the client.
Environment: Lion w/7.1 upgdate, Safari 5.1 (7534.48.3), Network Connect 7.0.0 (17289)
