Hard Resetting iPad - How long should it take?

I started the Hard Reset for my iPad about an hour ago. It's never taken that long before.

Anyone out there have this problem before? How do you stop a Hard Reset? Is stopping a Hard Reset a mistake?

Thirty seconds.

Even though it appears to be stuck, there's no harm in trying again:

Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.
