Feb 21, 2012 8:46 PM in response to stayanonimisby gphonei,I think it's a bit of a reach to put all of the "inaction" that you perceive into the realm of "deliberate attempt" to cause you harm, and corner you. I've received direct contact from an Apple employee, who has likely contacted others on the forum with a script that collects information that they need to figure out what is going on. So, as I have been saying, they appear to not have quite all the data they need to properly "fix" the problem and/or they are trying to make sure that people who have WiFi problems that are unrelated to the "software problem" are getting things fixed.
Everyone who is having this problem, is obviously inconvenienced and troubled by the "lack of payed for functionality". Just keep pestering Apple Care, and/or post on the forum, some more, and perhaps they are just sending email to those with a high post count (which I have since I've been trying to help people discover where the real issue is for them).

Feb 22, 2012 5:19 AM in response to lhaleby Jonmah,I have the same problem. When I was running Snow Leopard I had no wifi problems, but since updating to Lion I've been dropping wifi several times an hour. The problem has actually gotten a little worse since Apple's last firmware update, as far as I can tell. My problem has been escalated through Applecare to the point where I have my own personal technician who has had me do the following:
Erase and re-install (twice)
replaced the logicboard (twice)
replaced the bluetooth (twice)
replaced the bluetooth antenna
do a reinstall from an OS X disc that was sent to me in the mail
None of these things has helped in the slightest, and as you can see my problem has likely cose Apple a couple thousand dollars at this point. This is indeed very frustrating.

Feb 22, 2012 5:57 AM in response to lhaleby iwzzard,Here is a possible workaround, I have not tried yet sins I am at work and dont want to risk killing my networkconektion on my AIR at home (remote control), witch has been verry stable sins I changed to WLAN chanel 1 on my router
What this script will do is to shutdown and then start the wireless network card if it fails to contact google.com
# save as someting.sh and
#Sudo Chmod +X something.sh
#Sudo ./something.shmaxPloss=10
now=$(date +"%T")
restart_networking() {
# command to restart en0
sudo ifconfig en0 down;sleep 1;sudo ifconfig en0 up
}
# First make sure we can resolve google, otherwise 'ping -n' would hang
if ! $(host -W5 www.google.com > /dev/null 2>&1); then
restart_networking
exit
fi
# Initialize to a value that would force a restart
# (just in case ping gives an error and ploss doesn't get set)
ploss=101
# now ping google for 10 seconds and count packet loss
ploss=$(ping -q -t 10 www.google.com | grep -o "[0-9]*%" | tr -d %) > /dev/null 2>&1
if [ "$ploss" -gt "$maxPloss" ]; then
logger "Packet loss ($ploss%) exceeded $maxPloss at $now, restarting network ..."
restart_networking
fi
Feb 22, 2012 11:52 AM in response to CTby Joseph Kriz,CT,
I see that article was updated yesterday February 21............
I followed the instructions but am having a problem with No. 3, step 5.......
------------------
3. Remove your stored network passwords using the Keychain Access Utility.
- Open Keychain Access from /Applications/Utilities. Your window will look like this:
- Remove your AirPort network passwords from the login keychain: Select the "login" keychain from the Keychain sidebar. Click the "Kind" column to order the list of keychain items by their type. Remove all entries of the kind: "AirPort network password".
- Remove your AirPort network passwords from the System keychain: Select the "System" keychain from the Keychain sidebar. Click the "Kind" column to order the list of keychain items by their type. Remove all entries of the kind: "AirPort network password".
Note: The above steps will remove your Wi-Fi network passwords. If you do not know them, or if your network does not use passwords to restrict access, you should contact your network administrator.
4. Restart your computer.
5. Join your Wi-Fi network. You will need to enter your password for your network again if it requires one.
-------------------
For some reason, I no longer have to put my password in when I restart. I did delete the password from the keychain but....... As soon as I restart and select the network, it automatically puts the password in without the password window popping up.
Makes me wonder now if my network is password protected even though I have WPA2 Personal selected.....
Anyone else have this problem?
- Open Keychain Access from /Applications/Utilities. Your window will look like this:

Feb 23, 2012 10:02 AM in response to Joseph Krizby Barongreenbackii,This doesn't work. I have an iMac Oct 2011. I called in and asked for support and Apple desk walked me through the above fix... didn't do any thing. Still have the same issue. I was told to call back in a couple of weeks if I'm starting to get p*** off with wifi droping out...

Feb 24, 2012 6:45 AM in response to Barongreenbackiiby the_mbwd,After schlepping my iMac into an Apple store and being told that their was nothing that they could do (even though Apple's phone support specifically told me to bring it in), I am encouraging everyone to call Apple's litigation phone number: "For information regarding the process of a small claims complaint, please call the Small Claims line at 408-974-7901."
At a minimum, we should be given either: (a) a free copy of Snow Leopard so we can downgrade; or (b) a free copy of Mountain Lion.
I am done with these people. You can be sure that this is my last Mac desktop.

Feb 24, 2012 6:52 AM in response to the_mbwdby Carlo TD,Its nothing they can do because when you bring your computer to them, there does not seem to be any problem... but when you come back home, there is a problem... hmmm sounds like a network configiuation problem, infact, it does not sound like an apple problem at all.

Feb 24, 2012 6:56 AM in response to Carlo TDby the_mbwd,Actually, there was pretty good tech guy there who read the very detailed notes on my account from my prior calls. He told the manager (accurately) that it was not a problem with my iMac, but a problem with the software/firmware. This information was directly from my account and conversations that I had with a Level II tech manager in the WiFi division. The only reason that I brought it in was that a AppleCare representative implied that the store would try their best to "take care of me." I wrongy inferred that this meant they would take it back. But they wouldn't -- because I bought it from an authorized Apple retailer and not Apple.

Feb 24, 2012 7:23 AM in response to lhaleby benjikan,I just got off the phone with Apple Support in Europe. They DID acknowledge that there is a problem and also said that there is now an official internal office memo and that their TECH support is working on a Fix to the problem. He said that a software update will be out soon to address this problem. Although this recognition of this endemic issue is way older than a week old, from what I understood, has only been officially recognized for a week now. I told them that if this issue is not solved shortly, I will have no other choice but to write a post on my blog. We have a huge following and that kind of press is something they wish to avoid.

Feb 24, 2012 7:12 AM in response to lhaleby viniciusmro,For the ones hoping that Mountain Lion will fix wifi problems, I've installed it and still got the same issue..
This is not a software problem, it`s for sure a hardware/firmware problem..
I'm having the same issue in bootcamp using Win 7 64 bits..
thanks

Don't let CARLO TD know what happened.
Let him stay asleep in his cubicle at APPLE.
