May 14, 2012 6:26 AM in response to WSRby patplusplus,Yes, I know this seems strange. But according to the tests I did, the Wi-Fi connection is actually up & running (ping on an ip works). It's just the dns query which fails for some reason... Wondering if it's due to the changes in the code they did to support Airdrop...

May 16, 2012 2:04 AM in response to Curt Cozadby patplusplus,This is a different issue. (In my case Wi-Fi is active, but dns requests are failing which means you can't do much, and it looks like the connection is down).
Did you try to change the setting on your Wi-Fi router? btw, why do you have 2 ethernet interfaces?

May 16, 2012 2:31 AM in response to lhaleby As2x,I've tried to set wifi to an unused channel, delete network from keychain, set dns to 8.8.8.8 (google), change IP V6 settings...
None of them worked. I live in the same building as 1 week ago when I upgraded to Lion. Before (with SL) I have never experienced a wifi drop on my Macbook.
I think this problem has to be solved by Apple. It's incredible they didn't do until now, we are at 10.7.4, not at 10.7.0!!!
I'm thinking to downgrade OSX or wifi drivers, too much annoying problem...

May 16, 2012 3:24 AM in response to As2xby patplusplus,Did you try a clean install? anyway downgrading to Snow Leopard might be the only valid option at this time...

What do you guys think of this. I just bought a 2012 i5 iMac and dropping connectivity issues with 10.7.4
The iMac is connected wirelessly and it will not allow me to turn on WiFi. It defaults back to Ethernet2 and there is no ethernet cord plugged in. WTH?
Delete your "automatic" location.

May 17, 2012 10:47 AM in response to patplusplusby As2x,I have installed Lion from scatch (usually I never upgrade OSs!), at the end of installation I have imported previous settings / apps from a carbon copy of my previous installation (SL) attached through an USB HD.
Yesterday, reading a thread on another forum, I read some people has solved setting MTU to 1492.
Go in System Preferences -> Network -> Wi-Fi -> Advanced -> Hardware .... Manually configure MTU and set it to 1492.
I did it, then switched off and on Wi-Fi... since that moment, I never experienced other drops!
To verify, I'm leaving the macbook switched on and I'm keeping the Console app under control (filtering to include only events containing the word "disassociated").
Hope this will work for ever (crossing fingers)!

May 17, 2012 11:19 AM in response to As2xby DrVenture,What kind of router do you have As2x? So you think limiting the packet by 8bytes helps the issue for you?
The reason I am asking about your router is I would like to look up its chip manu and see what they suggest for MTU.

May 17, 2012 11:45 AM in response to DrVentureby As2x,My router brand is Edimax, model is AR-7284WnA/B, it's a cheap modem/router/wifi device sold in Switzerland (Taiwanese brand I think).
Well, the MTU setting I used was written on a forum, so I didn't do a specific "tuning" for my device.
What I can say is that I never got problems using the same Macbook with Snow Leopard, the issue raised when I upgraded to Lion last week.
Now, I'm still in testing phase, anyway I see no suspect events in Console so far.

May 17, 2012 11:55 AM in response to As2xby DrVenture,Ah! I was hoping it was a FCC regulated device so I could do a lookup on the chipset. Oh well. Are you connecting using 802.11b 2.4 or 802.11a 5GHz?
-
May 17, 2012 12:29 PM in response to DrVentureby As2x,I'm using 802.11n... a and b are quite old protocols!
WPA2 as security (router is set to both WPA/WPA2).

May 18, 2012 1:19 PM in response to Curt Cozadby luiz.kato,I bought an imac i5 too, and I have the same wifi drops problem. Annoying!
How didn't they fix it?

May 19, 2012 10:01 AM in response to lhaleby thinc2,Pretty unbelievable - I upgraded my mini to Lion with the intention of buying an iMac and an Airbook. The Mini was going to be relegated to streaming video from the TV.
The iMac is already ordered, but i will not accept delivery at this point. My Mini constantly drops the wireless signal.
Have spentcountless hours trying all the different fixes, but nothing helps.
Shame on Apple - looks like i will buy Windows machines instead - much to my dismay, but a computer that doesnt connect reliably to the internet is of no use...
This *****.

I have exactly the same problem as Curt Cozad posted earlier and I tried to delete automatic location as suggested from Carlo TD but unfortunately it did not worked for me. Any other suggestion?
