How to map a function key to Launchpad?

On my iMac, F3 launched mission control, F4 launched dashboard, and F5 launched... mission control! Really dumb. So I remappe F5 to launch Launchpad. No muss, no fuss, it just works.

On my MacBook Pro, I can map fn-F5 to Launchpad until I'm blue in the face, but it won't work. It still launches mission control if it works at all. I have tried mapping all sorts of keys and key combinations to Launchpad, but none of them work.

I want to map F5 so it starts Launchpad on the MacBook Pro. How do I do it?

24, Mac OS X (10.6.7)
