Lion randomly crashes - black screen

Lion crashes ever now and thenand stays on a black screen. Its totally unresponsive, all I can do is force shut down but I've done this about 4 times already today any idea what's going on, or how to fix?

Thanks!

After following this issue for many months, my conclusion is that the logic board is a red herring. The problem may have multiple or cascading causes but the LB does not appear to be one of them. Too many users have continued to experience the issue after installation of a new LB. Lion is the single common element in all of the cases, not the LB.

This is not true. Some report problems still occuring after downgrade to SL. Also for some a MLB replacement did fix the problem.

Who knows? There are so many contradictory and illogical aspects to this problem that it is almost impossible to analyze based soley upon comments on this forum. It could be that the MLB replacement incorporates a fix for the driver issue, or was designed to work with Lion. I wish I knew.

THIS.

It's hard having to prove there's something wrong with these computers, when it's obvious there is a problem -- and it's deeper than what they have acknowleged so far.

jamesfromvenice: If you think this issue is isolated to only lion they you are dead wrong, and its very unlikely that its the driver' fault. I ONLY had snow leopard before and this problem occured, i never ever touched lion in any way, get it ? The only reason i upgraded to lion was to see if it fixed the issue. Stop talking about something like you know the answer when you so clearly dont. Because of that i also think its unlikely that this is a lion problem, but a hardware problem.

I never said that james, of course i draw mine from my experience since ive been working with computers for many years, in addition to that of course i take my conclusion from what other people have experienced, how would you solve a problem if you didnt do that. Not interested in arguing with you, i can argue with apple, take your anger out on them instead.

I apologise if I came across as angry at you. That certainly was not my intention.

Of course, my anger is, as it should be, directed at Apple. Without any meaningful guidance or data from their engineers it is up to us to draw our own conclusions. Clearly some parts of this puzzle are out of our comprehension, consequently we can only attempt to apply some rational analysis to the data we do have.
