Sep 10, 2011 5:16 AM in response to whetty101by dunraz,MBP MID 2010 15" I7(2,66GHZ / 4GB)
Just got my first logic board replacement... works worse than before.....
i took it out of the boxing and turned it on... first start with black screen....
the second start up took about 2 minutes... after that i tried photobooth and pdfs via quickview.. -> BSODs over and over again....
while talking to apple care i got another BSOD and i couldn´t even turn the pc off!!! had to plug in the power supply (after that the hardreset worked)...
the apple advisor noticed all of that but they "can not give me a new macbook". now they even don´t wan´t to collect it for another repair!
i had to send them new logs......
thats not how a 2000+ machine should work and thats not how a paid bonus warranty should be!!!

Sep 10, 2011 8:31 AM in response to klackenstamby gavingough,I've tried posting to the forum a couple of times, nothing inflammatory, just details of my Mac, when it was made and some suggestions for how we, as a collective group of customers, might influence Apple into doing something - my posts have been censored and removed each time.
Just adds fuel to the fire, in my opinion.

Sep 10, 2011 8:56 AM in response to gavingoughby klackenstam,I agree with you Gavin.
Its my third (in a row) 15" Apple notebook that have immense hardware issues.
As a pro user I realy dont have much of a choice.
Its not like im going to pick up a Dell next time.
Anyway, I know that Apple eventually will help us. But in my book this is taking up to much of my time.

Sep 10, 2011 9:12 AM in response to whetty101by Mark Marin,None of the Apple Geniuses have any knowledge of a permanent software or hardware fix for this problem? Lion makes my mid 2010 MacBook Pro too warm to comfortably hold and battery life is Windows like since Lion.
My computer's BSOD after waking from sleep may be hardware or software related, but surely there is some do-loop eating CPU cycles and causing excessive heat and poor battery life. At least some of he problems people are having are software related.
Didn't Apple have any MacBook Pro from 2010 among their beta testers?

Sep 10, 2011 9:20 AM in response to Mark Marinby gavingough,I've also noticed this behaviour @Mark. If I don't use gfxstatus to force the computer to use the integrated graphics card then any attempt to look at version history - in Preview, Pages or other applications, will prompt an immediate BSOD. This is how I demonstrated the problem to a Mac Genius when I first took my MBP into an Apple store.
He was very understanding but admitted that before anything could be done I'd have to raise the issue with Senior Support Staff. That was at the beginning of August - I'm still no nearer being offered a replacement. It's very frustrating.
So, for now, I'm using gfxstatus to force the computer to use the integrated card all the time - even so, it takes me 5 or 6 attempts to log-in as I get a BSOD at log-in. Eventually, I get lucky and get far enough into the log-in process for gfxstatus to load.
I've been promised a solution on Monday. Despite my experience to date, I'm optimistic that Apple will offer me the solution that I'm entitled to. In the meantime, a Facebook page which won't be censored is a good idea. I have some other suggestions that I can discuss there.
Any Facebook experts willing to set that up?

Sep 10, 2011 9:45 AM in response to Endarethby gavingough,@novamac, the Apple staff I saw brought this link to my attention. Unfortunately, deleting the windowserver files hasn't worked for me. Has it worked for others?

Sep 10, 2011 9:51 AM in response to Jean Regisserby Tess888,Thanks so much for this information...perhaps we can see some pattern to the difficulties that everyone is experiencing. My computer had a nightmare upgrade, but started working normally after some insignificant software upgrades, which shouldn't have done that much to restore stability...the painful details are in previous posts...
Below is my MPO information...once again, thanks!

Sep 10, 2011 10:25 AM in response to Mark Marinby Tess888,Martin..you're so right about the computer being too warm, etc, but I even noticed this behavior on my sister's band new 2011 13" MBP with a native Lion installation....Things to watch for--- Go to the console app and see if there are tons of recurrent errors being generated by some software program...in my computer it was Adobe Air, which is not compatible with OSX Lion---get if off of your machine...next, delete and reinstall your printer...printer drivers were also causing havoc on my machine. Also look for the raw file upgrade from Apple updates...for some unknown reason, this seems to help too...also, have no more than 8-10 items in startup...I had about 30 items....after performing this exorcism, my computer started to run between 46 and 75 degrees C, even during multiple graphic operations.

Since many of the people on this forum have the same configuration MBP--- 15"MBP (mid 2010) I7, 2.66 --- perhaps it would be a good idea for everyone to mention the purchase date / month to narrow down this problem more specifically, so you don't have to jump through hoops to get a new mother board or the proper service. Obviously not everyone is having a problem, otherwise this forum could not contain the huge numbers. I have the 15"MBP (mid 2010) I7, 2.66, 8GB ram, purchased the end of April, 2010. I had problems for a while with BSOD, kernel panics...etc, etc when I first installed Lion, but everything's OK now...
15" MBP mid 2010
Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
Had never experienced BSOD until Lion upgrade. With Lion, can go days without issues or have multiple BSODs within an hour depending on apps I'm running (haven't seen enough of a pattern to narrow down apps).
Most recent crash came while using iPhoto 2011.
