Sep 27, 2011 4:32 PM in response to cheesebeltby yarushimi,There may be many reasons of BSOD... I tried fix all of them... And only downgrade to Snow Leopard helped me.
Did you try:
Reset SMC http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
Update EFI Firmware http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1332
Update Nvidia driver http://www.nvidia.ru/Download/
Delete a preference file http://osxdaily.com/2011/08/09/fix-macbook-pro-2010-crashes-kernel-panics-black- screens-in-os-x-10-7-lion/

Sep 27, 2011 5:43 PM in response to whetty101by Paulol,It's unbelievable that after 1,486 Replies there is still no Official Word from Apple. It's really a shame. Their costumer service is good, but only when it favours them...

Sep 27, 2011 8:17 PM in response to Paulolby nevillev,I agree - it's shocking. I, like most here, have a 2010 MacBook Pro that cannot run Lion without freezing up. It's out of warranty (relatively recently) and I've been reluctant to take the time to work on getting a logic board replacement from Apple in the hopes that they'd release a fix. In the meantime - after a visit with the genius folks - I downgraded back to Snow Leopard; which performs flawlessly. This is very disappointing; and definitely goes against the reason I switched to Apple from Windows in the first place. I don't expect perfection from them - but after this many reported problems I would expect some customer-centric action out of Apple.

Please people, before to proclame victory, test your configuration deeply.

Sep 28, 2011 3:06 AM in response to whetty101by gopackgo12,Hello,
after trying all the latest 10.7.2 betas and having the usual issue I gave up.
I can't stay for 1 week without laptop so I tried downgrading to snow leopard (I used an old HD clone I made the day before installing Lion) and I can finally say that I don't have BSODs any more.
I didn't expect to have them since I used SL for a year and had 2 or 3 freezes at best.
I know that for some people even downgrading to SL didn't solve anything but for me it did.
I will continue to follow this thread and will install Lion on an external HD so that I can monitor the progress (if there will be any) of the betas.

Sep 28, 2011 5:00 AM in response to gopackgo12by mikeetastic,Im also running the latest 10.6.2 beta but same on my MBP2.66 Hi-Res 2010 model, as soon as i launch photobooth then boom.. Black screen... But if i use gfxcardstatus and run intel, i can use the machine 24/7
question:
I freshly installed 10.7 lion without any apps (no iLife etc) and used it for a day without any BSOD, but as soon as i migrate my files, install ilife, add 3rd party apps etc then its back.. ***????? Maybe someone at macrumors can make this at their frontpage so Apple can hurry up with their fix..

It didn't work for me. I made a fresh reinstall of 10.6.3, and had the BSOD in the first 20 minutes...
I don't know for sure, but it is my understanding that upgrading to Lion includes some firmware changes. If this is the case, then downgrading to SL does not really take your system back to exactly the way it was before, because the firmware changes remain.

Sep 28, 2011 7:56 AM in response to wired00by Plexson,Hey,
I'm from Germany and also very annoyed by the BSOD.
Could there be a link between the Intel HD Graphics
"Revision ID" and the BSOD - Problem?
My Macbook Pro 2010 ( Core i7 ) also crashes with the BSOD all the time in Lion, and my Revision ID is 0x0012.
But wired00 wrote on page 98, that his Intel-GPU Revision ID is "0x0018" and he said, his Macbook isn't crashing.
It is the same on the two Macbooks from my brother ( 2010, Core i5 ), both Revision ID "0x0018" and no BSOD at all.

Sep 28, 2011 8:00 AM in response to Plexsonby ElegantDesign,Mine is the same as yours; BSOD city (moderated by gfxCS)
VRAM (Total): 288 MB
Vendor: Intel (0x8086)
Device ID: 0x0046
Revision ID: 0x0012
gMux Version: 1.9.21
and
VRAM (Total): 512 MB
Vendor: NVIDIA (0x10de)
Device ID: 0x0a29
Revision ID: 0x00a2
ROM Revision: 3560
gMux Version: 1.9.21
although I've got gfxCS locking it onto Intel. Anyone with a new (fixed) logic board want to chime in with their current IDs? Might be useful to track down which boards are "new" vs. refurbished "old".

Mine is the same. I can't tell if it's relevant though. BSOD under 10.6.8

Sep 28, 2011 9:28 AM in response to Plexsonby Mark Marin,I have revision 0x0012 too and mine runs OK unless it has slept prior. After sleeping it may not wake up and the screen be frozen, or it may have BSOD upon waking. Sometimes it wakes and acts OK then looses Internet connectivity after a while and then I get the cascade spinning beachball as program after program hangs. This too only happens after it's been allowed to go to sleep.
How about the revision of the NVIDIA on your system? Mine is
0x00a2. Perhaps this is the difference from one system to another.
-
Sep 28, 2011 11:13 AM in response to Mark Marinby Plexson,Hey,
my Nvidia Revision ID is 0x00a2 , so there is no difference.
I called Apple Germany half an hour ago and told them about my BSOD - Issue.
The supporter's first statement was, that forum's are completely unimportant for them because people usually overreact there, even if it is Apple's own Support Forum.
After I told him, that I installed Lion onto a new Partition without anything on it, he said, I had "ruined my system, because I copied my home folder to Lion"....
Then i said, that I did a complete fresh install without copying any of my data.
Because he couldn't help me out anymore, he wanted to pass me to another Supporter from Apple's "2nd lane".
So, as it would take half an hour or more to get to the Apple - Hardware Hotline, I arranged that I could get called back tomorrow and I don't need to wait all the time.
So, tomorrow we will see, how the story goes on....
