Oct 3, 2011 1:59 PM in response to deborah16by PR-Imagery,"I would like someone to explain to me why we are all waiting for Apple to acknowledge that there is a problem with these Macbooks." That pretty much answers your question. Until Apple actually acknowledges the problem, and takes steps to rectify the issue on their customer's behalf, I'm sure people will like to actually be able to use their expensive computers and not be stuck with a crappy machine, in a endless loop of "repairs" and "diagnostic". So while you constantly keep on Apple until they actually do something to fix your problem, you can actually use it.
"I thought that buying a Macbook would be the end of all the problems with Windows" - Did not know Windows was a computer. Pretty sure Microsoft doesn't sell hardware. Software and hardware are two completely different things.

Oct 3, 2011 2:28 PM in response to PR-Imageryby deborah16,Thank you and sorry that you just missed the point! I thought Apple made computers that contain hardware & software which is all supposed to work together, isn't that what makes them so different to Windows based computers? I am not stupid (as you are trying to make me out to be) and I have already had the logic board replaced after 8 months on my Macbook Pro. All I was saying is that my Windows laptop is still working and I've not had to spend precious time trying to find out why it isn't as I have with my Macbook Pro and whereas the Macbook cost over £1200 the HP windows laptop cost £450 and I've not purchased any additional warranty which Apple seem to pressure you into buying. If anyone in the UK is having problems with a Macbook please check out Trading Standards because you don't need to keep buying these additional warranties.
And by the way.....
It’s designed to be a better computer.
When you buy a computer, you want it to last. And a Mac will. That’s because a Mac is designed and built to be as reliable as it is beautiful.

Oct 3, 2011 2:44 PM in response to PR-Imageryby deborah16,This is also stated on the Apple website
'Why get a new PC and just upgrade your computer, when you can get a Mac and upgrade your entire computer experience?'
Certainly did that!

Oct 4, 2011 12:29 AM in response to whetty101by NovapaX,I had these exact problems, also in 10.6.8 (MBP mid 2010, Core i7)
(used the 2nd-effect-page of Photobooth to reproduce everytime)
Got it after a logic board replacement for another problem.
Got back to the reseller, got my LoBo replaced again, problem solved!
So, just get your LoBo replaced untill it works!

Oct 4, 2011 2:41 AM in response to whetty101by bmoodyvid,This is killing me! I am crashing every day since I installed LION. When I say "crashing' I mean the screen goes black and I have to do a reboot. My MacBook Pro is just over a year old and will all the upgrades it was over $4000. Every time this happens my computer sends a report and now I am adding comments. This has got to be fixed now. I have a 2.66GHz Interl Core i7 8GB 1067 Mhz DDR3 Memory, Intel HD Graphics 288 MB, High resloution screen, and 7200RPM 500GB drive, Lion 10.7.1
HELP APPLE!!!!

Oct 4, 2011 5:08 AM in response to darren168by bulwerboys,Logic board replacement is not the ONLY fix, I've had them do three logic boards now. Thats should tell you somethings not right. I think Apple do care, they are trying, but they cant really understand it them selves.
I think its got more to do with our overall machine configuration / specifications being incompatible. I also suspect Apple suspect that, but they can't admit it and certainly wont offer to replace your machine free of charge untill they have absolutley ruled out all other possibilities first by seeing BSOD occur first hand in their workshops for each individual machine.
I hope!

Oct 4, 2011 5:32 AM in response to bulwerboysby pez_head,I agree logic board is not the only fix. If you have the bsod you should be able to vnc to desktop and all will be working fine. I'm working with nvidia on this under win 7 because apple didn't want to help
-
Oct 4, 2011 6:24 AM in response to pez_headby ElegantDesign,Perhaps this is what's happening under Win 7, but under Lion I've tried pinging the machine as well as SSH'ing into it (both of which normally work) after a BSOD has occurred but before I power it down, and it certainly seems completely unresponsive on the network indicating at the very least a more severe OS breakdown if not a complete kernel panic. The Airport ethernet link appears to hold according to the Airport Utility monitoring the Airport Base Station, but that's about it.

Oct 4, 2011 3:50 PM in response to vicjebby wheelman38,Upgade to Lion. Apple replaces the logic board and screen for free. I was experiencing BSOD while in Photo Booth and moving to the second key in effects. If I chose the second choice or button in effects the screen would crash. Genius bar did a clean install of Lion, checked all hardware (good). With all that completed, the screen still went black while in Photo Booth. They were stymied. The problem statrted with the upgrade to Lion. I told Genius that the fix would be a new board. They took my suggestion and wound up replacing the screen also. All is well for now. Customer service wa outstanding.

Oct 4, 2011 4:17 PM in response to wheelman38by RT381,Lucky man, I spend 2 full hrs arguing with the geniuos guy and his supervisor and came out with the below options:
you either Downgrade to snow leopard
or
pay $600 bucks and get the logic board replaced!
I am not exaggerating! I asked the supervisor to confirm.
Are these my options?
She Said Yes ok?
I said no not ok! and left the store
so frustrating! so disappointing too. been apple fan for 6 years now. every major product!
outstanding customer service indeed!!!

Oct 4, 2011 4:44 PM in response to vicjebby RT381,no I am no longer u der warranty. if u are they will do it for free. my warranty just expired before lion. still I think it's unfair coz everyone is able to upgrade to lion but not me. because was unlucky to have been sold a defective logic board from the beginning
