Oct 12, 2011 7:52 PM in response to ariel_mfby Ian Kelleigh,10.7.2 does not fix my problem.
It's good to see that Apple is "aware" of the issue and I'm going to bookmark that page specifically in case I have to deal with an Apple store Genius.
In the meantime, I'm not sure if this is too much to share (I may be kicked from the program saying this), but there is a special "MacBook Pro" software seed starting soon that I'm sure is going to be addressing this very issue. Apple specifically asked in the seed program for people with the 2010 MacBook Pros that exhibit the black screen freezes. I hope this comes quickly, because my work machine may just end up getting mobo's replaced soon because I can't take much more of these random freezes. It's like walking on eggshells.

Oct 12, 2011 8:52 PM in response to damienfromarmadaleby kevin2i,Lion 10.7.2 - No Improvement.
2009 Dual Core 2.8.
Seems we have the same symptom (Black Screen) - but there are variety of conditions.
Mine is very simple. When the lid is closed AND the computer is charging, upon opening the screen will flash then go black. If unplug the charger, the screen lights and I can plug the charger back in.
100% consistant. GPU makes no difference (set with gfxCardStatus).
My macpro has no problems with Lion - except that the fans speed up occassionaly (CPU's at 30C).

Good to see apple achnowledging the issue. Hopefully won't be long before they provide everyone still experiencing the problem with free hardware replacements (and MB parts pre-tested to be working!)

Oct 12, 2011 9:13 PM in response to whetty101by ariel_mf,maybe now with the release of icloud, iOS 5, iPhone 4S and Lion 10.7.2 for icloud, Apple has more time and more resources to devote to the resolution of this issue. I hope that fixed it quickly!!

Finally some good news from Apple themselves.
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4086.I was really hoping that 10.7.2 would've fixed it though.

Oct 12, 2011 10:28 PM in response to PR-Imageryby citrus101,Hi PR-Imagery,
Well, many of the Macbooks that are having this problem, aren't Sandybridge based, the 2010 models are based on the Arrandale architecture. Any base clock changes would be done in the BIOS, and surely wouldn't be done during an OS install.
Ah, I see. Thank you very much for this information.

Oct 13, 2011 12:54 AM in response to Tess888by gatesbuster, did you have the BSOD issue with 10.7.1 or the first lion. If you did not have any issue, then your machine was fine and your logic board ok

Oct 13, 2011 12:57 AM in response to ariel_mfby gatesbuster,I also noticed the new post from Apple aknowledging the issue: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4086 . This is good news and I will wait for them to fix the issue or eventually replace the macbook pro.

Oct 13, 2011 1:20 AM in response to whetty101by fernando333,My macbook pro is mid 2010, made on the last week of MARCH. The post of apple say:
Affected computers were manufactured between April 2010 and February 2011.
My mbp mid 2010 is affected too!! What about it?

Here's a handy link to find info about your mac. simply input your serial number from 'about this mac' menu item: http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
