Oct 21, 2011 9:43 AM in response to madananby CKSEE,In my case (MBP 15" 2010), it can't be logic board problem as i never had a single BSOD in SL for almost a year before Lion.
I always have strong faith with Apple until now. This is a serious problem as people are losing work on the Mac because of the freezing problem. It's crazy there is still no official solution from Apple for so many months since Lion brought the problems onto us (other than a brief official acknowledgement of the problem by Apple Support on 12th October 2011)....

Oct 21, 2011 9:57 AM in response to CKSEEby MrMeerKat,I also had no problems under SL but did when I upgraded to Lion. So may be it is some issue with the batch of logic boards in mid 2010 machines, as a note I have only been running for 24 hrs since logic board was replaved but before I was having mutiple crahses every day and could make it happen at will, this is no longer the case, so fingers crossed.

I think it is not HW issue, just some software. What about your opinion?

Oct 22, 2011 1:10 AM in response to ardeeby oaklandraiders69,I have a Feb. 2011 MacBook Pro 13" (newest one). My computer randomly goes to a black screen, without prompting and sometimes has a black screen with a yellow line on the left side on startup. I am running Lion with the newest software update and my Mac is only a month old. Is this a hardware or software issue :S?

Oct 22, 2011 5:37 AM in response to CKSEEby Jorge Castillo S.,Could it have some relation to the utilization of Safari 5.1? After the reinstallation of Snow Leopard from Lion, I had the NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception and Channel timeout issues after its update. In Lion, I have this error on NVDA(OpenGL) when I use or I had used it in some moment. Could it be related to some set of instructions of Safari 5.1 that uses OpenGL?
Greetings.

Oct 22, 2011 7:26 AM in response to Martin Rehfeldby thal,In my case (MBP 15" 2010), the BSOD occure after installing Lion. The BSOD was 100% reproducible by starting a Powerpoint presentaion with a connected external monitor. Last week the Apple Reseller replaced my Logicboard an now all BSOD are gone so far.

Oct 22, 2011 9:47 AM in response to whetty101by derBonsaii,Okay ...
now i have crashes while scanning, printing, watching movies in Safari!!
the whole time beachballs ...
safari ... not responding
mail ... not responding
finder ... not responding
and yes, i'm using gfxCardStatus ...
on monday i'll call apple ... and i'm happy that i'm not the person at the other side of the lane ...
And NO, it's not only a problem of Lion, i had the same issues under 10.6.8, but i had no infos at this point.

Oct 22, 2011 9:56 AM in response to derBonsaiiby Yurashka,If you have AppleCare, demand that apple either fix the problem or replace the laptop. Go up the food chain from tech to customer relations to manager, as high up as it takes until someone agrees to honor the commitment you paid $300+ (cost of applecare). Refer them back to the AppleCare agreement. Maybe next time they won't take 4 months to acknowledge the problem, and once they do, commit to ETA on a fix. "We are working on it" is a Microsoft answer

Oct 22, 2011 10:37 AM in response to whetty101by Plexson,Hello from Germany,
yesterday I called Apple Germany again and I got connected to the same supporter I'd spoken to half a month ago.
After I told him, that I had read in this forum here, that a Capture Data wouldn't help, he said that he is now sure, that the problem is hardware related.
He then told me to go to the next Apple Reseller to get my Macbook repaired for free ( if they can diagnosticate a hardware failure ).
So, today I went to "FMS Computer" in Schweinfurt.
They said it's a known issue: " Intermittent black screen or loss of video ".
Now my Macbook gets transported to Bad Kissingen, where it should get repaired!
So, I hope they can diagnosticate the problem and change the logic board.
I will post the results, when I get it back from FMS. ( But I don't know how long this will take... )

Oct 22, 2011 10:41 AM in response to Plexsonby derBonsaii,Mit wem genau hast du Telefoniert?

Oct 22, 2011 11:27 AM in response to derBonsaiiby tool,Ok this just happened to me again, probably only about the 6th or 7th time now...i know not near as bad as some other users are reporting, but this has only happened to me since i updated to Lion. Never had anything like this with Snow Leopard.
I get the occasional black screen when i try to wake my 17" MacBook Pro 2.8GHz (Mid-2009). When i lift the lid, the screen asking for my password appears for a brief moment, and then the screen goes black. However, the keyboard illumination remains lit, CAPS LOCK, NUM Lock lights work, the speakers work..but i have no response from the screen...but i might be on to something though...
The last time this happened to me, it happened twice to me on the same day. The first time, i immediately just force restarted the computer. The 2nd time, i decided to "wait it out" for a short bit, to see if the screen would come back on itself...after determining that the keyboard was responsive to the CAPS LOCK, and NUM Lock keys lighting up, i just waited for a minute or two before i touched the keyboard again...when i did i tried the Brightness UP button, but to no avail......but immediately as soon as i hit the Brightness DOWN button, the screen came on immediately. I don't know if this is a coincidence, but i do know that the brightness level was turned all the way up, when the screen actually did come back on, i had only turned it DOWN a notch or two and it was all the way up. So i am kind of thinking maybe when the computer is turned on for an extended amount of time with the brightness all the way up (which i tend to have mine up all the way, or very close to it), maybe it is just making it work overtime or something, i dunno because i have noticed on an occasion or two that my computer will NOT go to sleep (the illumination light does NOT pulsate, but stays a solid white), yet the screen is off, the fans are running full blast...
This is most often the time(s) that the BSOD have occurred for me. So maybe it is just a software/firmware fix because it has only happened to me since Lion. But my computer i still have a few months left to go on my warranty, i may try to demand a new logic board or a replacement very soon if they don't take action and recall some of these machines.

Oct 22, 2011 12:42 PM in response to derBonsaiiby Plexson,Hallo,

Oct 22, 2011 1:25 PM in response to whetty101by Mondo Generator,This is ******* ridiculous. Jumped into Lion yesterday, thinking this issue wouldn't affect me. Today: 1 kernel panic, 2 freezes, one finder crash and two times a black screen when waking up from sleep.
Back to SL.
How's Windows 7 doing? I heard it's pretty good. Maybe I buy an ugly looking PC next time so I can WORK ok the **** thing.
