Nov 28, 2011 9:55 PM in response to Croimos14by BenMcC,I'm pretty sure it's a conflict with the trackpad and the nvidia driver, as they are things i'm using when the crash occurs. Really upset at this point.

Nov 29, 2011 1:09 AM in response to BenMcCby kspes, yeah, it does seem like a mouse/trackpad issue rather then a display card issue. I've never had problems in Snow Leopard. Those of you who do probably quality for a free logic board replacement.
Maybe switching to a non-apple branded external mouse would be a temporary fix? Think of it, have you ever had a crash while not using your laptop? I have never had such an issue, all my bsods happened when using a mouse or trackpad.

Nov 29, 2011 2:08 PM in response to kspesby Tess888,I think you're on to something referring to Blue Tooth issues...here are other entries from another Apple Support Community website:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3198944?start=0&tstart=0
I was having random crashes with blue tooth entries in the crash logs, and I brought my computer and mouse to the Genius Bar. My mouse was faulty and was causing the crashes...no more problems with the newly suppplied Apple magic mouse. Something has changed with the Blue Tooth profiles from SL to Lion...NVidia was not mentioned in my crash logs at all, and I have not had any video issues with my MBP...IMHO, this particular problem is not a logic board related issue.

Nov 30, 2011 12:23 AM in response to h.taminaby h.tamina,Hey guys,
a small update from me: Yesterday I went to the AASP in the hope my LB would be swapped. Unfortunately the AASP told me they worked with the MacBook the whole day and could not reproduce the BSOD and it did not occur the whole day. Also they wont give me the chance again to produce the BSOD in front of them So I took my MacBook back home and: BAM, just after 2 minutes the first BSOD Got further 4 BSOD during the rest of the evening... Tried to call the Apple Service Hotline, but gave up after waiting over 40 minutes to get to speak to the Tec2...
It is a really horror what Apple is doing here and I cannot understand, why they are so ignorant to their customer I will try to speak with the Tec2 today and see what he can suggest...

Dec 2, 2011 5:37 AM in response to whetty101by Robert Tompkins,I replied to this post in July about Kernal Panics upon start-up with Lion on my 17"MBP. I went back to SL using Time Machine and said I would try again in a few months. Well Tuesday was that day and....wait for it....I had EXACTLY the same problem...kernal panic immediately upon start-up everytime. Interestingly I could start in safe mode and most of my stuff worked which indicated that the Lion was working but that there was some 3rd party conflict. I have Apple Care and spoke for awhile with a fine Senior Technician who was willing to walk me through a clean install and then use migration assistant to restore everything. NOT DOING IT. I don't have the time nor do I care about Lion enough to bother. Once again I am back at SL. I feel bad for people who upgraded without a back-up. Good Luck.

Dec 2, 2011 9:59 AM in response to whetty101by Adel Sabry,* I fixed my MacBook PRO 15" mid 2010 , without any logic board replacements... .. I copied a file from a another model to my computer and so far working very well, and I have the longest uptime now. Its been more than 10 Days.
Everything is working Normally, Graphic User Switching is enabled, and photobooth works fine, and I run the effects screen it all ok..
MACINTOSH HD: SYSTEM: LIBRARY: EXTENSIONS:
you will find a file "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext"
make a backup if this file, on another place on your hard drive.. , then deleted, just incase something happened.
Now simply restart while holding the SHIFT key to start in safe mode... toggle the "automatic grpahics switching",
Enable then disable.. whatever.
Then restart ...
Thats what I did, since then, Everything is Back to Normal
System Software Overview:
System Version: Mac OS X 10.7.2 (11C74)
Kernel Version: Darwin 11.2.0
Boot Volume: Macintosh HD
Boot Mode: Normal
Computer Name: -----
User Name: ------
Secure Virtual Memory: Enabled
64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes
Time since boot: 10 days 1:51

Dec 2, 2011 12:42 PM in response to Adel Sabryby rapid10,Can anyone confirm this fix? I don't want to kill my MacBook once again by trying a fix.
-
Dec 2, 2011 12:52 PM in response to rapid10by Adel Sabry,@rapid10 , What is your machine type, ?? I am sure that my Machine is working properly,
It is a MacBook Pro, 15" with switchable graphic cards, while you typed " I don't want to kill my MacBook "
See What I mean .... on the other hand, you can simply have this file on a flash memory , or on your desktop top, if something happens you can startup in safemode and put it back...
What I really need to know, did you face a problem while using Snow Leopard ?
I didn't have any problem while runnig 10.6 to 10.6.8
I only had troubles when installed 10.7.2 , even 10.7 had no issues...
so in my case this fixed my Laptop completely ... you can see from the above picture my uptime ...
Please feel free to send me or ask for any details... we need to have our systems running without the
Logic Board replacement ...

Dec 2, 2011 1:14 PM in response to Adel Sabryby cheesebelt,Hey,
I haven't been writing here for some time now, but kept on following on a daily basis. Now, to make a few points clear for those of you who weren't here from the start.-ABSOD happens on both SL and Lion.
-Each system has been proposed a software update fix, none of which has gotten rid of the problem for everyone.
-Problem seems to come from graphic card automatic switching, and /or from the use of the NVIDIA card.
-logic board replacement might be hard to obtain and doesn't guarantee success, but has been proven effective in numerous cases.
I for one am on SL, never installed any Lion on my mid 15" 6,2 model MBP, and do experience random shutdowns of the screen since may 2010. The recent update fix, seems to have made them more rare, and more unpredictable, but still I do have them happening every now and then.
Next step for me is the appointment with Apple techs, the only reason why I don't is because I'm a musician in the middle of an album production and can't afford messing around with the main tool.Don't lose your time with hypothetical causes around the trackpad, the ext power cord, external mouse and whatnot. The source in the previous 150 pages which I'm sure you don't feel like reading if you just arrived has been narrowed down to a firmwire bug affecting the relation between mac software and NVIDIA related drivers. It probably involves huge contractual problems between the two firms and non disclosure agreements making that situation quite hard to solve and to communicate about.
Do I seem calm ? Dont believe the hype. -
Dec 2, 2011 1:23 PM in response to Adel Sabryby iEdu,Hi, you talked about copying a file from a friend's Mac. So you replace the file of your Mac with the one of your fruend's. Am I right? Can you provide me that file? I don't have any Mac near to do that
Am I clear?
Thanks
-
Dec 2, 2011 1:30 PM in response to iEduby Adel Sabry,Yes, I did copy the file, but even without copying the file, I mean just deleting the file helped me pass the problem.
My Problem, was " My mac get random freez " and specially at the Login Screen ...
OK, so that's to be clear..
on your computer
MACINTOSH HD: SYSTEM: LIBRARY: EXTENSIONS:
you will find a file "AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext"
please if you need the Power Management file, let me know,..

Dec 2, 2011 1:37 PM in response to Adel Sabryby iEdu,I did what you told us. I tried to see versions, in pages, where I have most of the BSOD and kernel panic, and it just has happened again.
May be I'll need that file to copied
Thanks for your help
