Dec 16, 2011 10:36 PM in response to ogieboboby GreySteele,What part # did they replace your logic board with. Make sure it is the 6xxx part # that is the revised board. I think the old board part #s were 5xxx.

Dec 20, 2011 8:53 PM in response to whetty101by nicbee333,Urrgh! It is nearly Christmas 2011 and this issue is still plaguing me. Went to retail supplier (New Zealand) of my MacBook Pro, 15'', mid 2010, 2.4 GHZ, i5, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 256 MB, OSX Lion 10.7.2 (11C74), upgraded from 4 to 8GB RAM - and have been instructed to contact Apple Care for direction. Have sent well over 20 reports to Apple every time a crash occurs and to date have had not one email response as followup - totally not what I expected from Apple. Am a recent convert from Windows/PC environment and am a total FAN GIRL however this is leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. I have spent a small fortune specing out this computer and now have this unresolved issue which is costing me BIG TIME - personal income (time/business) and patience. Apple, PLEASE give us a solution or give us a replacement. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Dec 20, 2011 10:17 PM in response to whetty101by sd0084,God!!! I am so disappointed with Apple. I installed the Video fix and the number of crashed increased. I can hardly do any work here. I need to take it for service. I don't think the Apple Service guys would give me a replacement here in India.
With Snow Leopard I was extremely happy. It was reliable. I don't understand what made Apple ship Lion in haste. Now that I have purchased other compatible software going back to Snow Leopard doesn't make sense.
Apple: You deserve to lose the reliable tag.

Dec 21, 2011 2:12 AM in response to sd0084by rapid10,So an update for my case: I try to reproduce this error in Windows Boot Camp, but no BSOD all programms and games run perfectly with no errors (I also let sleep the Book and wake it up). Boot Camp does not allow to switch between the graphic cards, so Windows only use the dedicated graphic processor. Ergo no switch in Windows Boot Camp.
In OS X Lion: I use gfxCardStatus to use only the Intel card. I tried to force the dedicated card AFTER WAKEUP. Boom ... open Mail and try to quick view a link --> BSOD. I wonder why the BSOD often comes, when I wake up my MacBook Pro. If I switch manually to the dedicated card and the MacBook runs a longer time there are no problems. Ergo it seems that (in my case) there's a problem with the temperature. If the MacBook runs a longer time already, the MacBook isn't cold. But I don't know, why there are no BSODs in Windows.
Are the thermal paste of my MacBook Pro a problem? How I can check this or add some paste? After Christmas I finally try the first clean install of Lion on a new HDD.
btw: My reseller said that my MacBook is ok and there are no problems. Before Lion I never have had a problem. It would be too much coincidence, if you say that exactly on this day my logicboard went corrupt. ;-)

Dec 21, 2011 5:49 PM in response to nicbee333by tnaseem,Well, mine was running fine after the latest update that supposedly 'fixed' it. I was so happy... for 2 weeks, then BANG it went again. Now, I'm getting it happen almost daily again. Great.
I think in our case (in NZ, with no Apple Stores!) is to contact Apple and get it round to your local service centre to get the logic board replaced.
But, like you, I depend on my laptop for work, and can't possibly leave it with a service centre for X days for it to get fixed.
But the crash reports themselves won't get Apple to contact you (if this is what you're doing). You have to call them direct.
I'll be doing this again, and seeing if I can persuade them to at least give me a loan machine to work on in the meantime(!) Doubtful this will happen though...

Dec 21, 2011 6:11 PM in response to tnaseemby nicbee333,My contention is that if Apple are collecting automated reports from me that are repeating and unresolved; that good 'customer service' would invoke some kind of followup - if even an automated response such as: 'Report received, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to report this issue, we are looking into it and updates will be posted on the Apple site'. Just SOME acknowledgement would be nice, don't you think?
I have installed the 'fix' file off the Apple website and it has not helped. I even read somewhere (because I use a projector screen hooked up to my MAC on a daily basis) to manually delete the 'windows server' files from /Users/Home/Library/Preferences was successful for another user. Alas both of these 'fixes' are not fixes for me!
And I am not convinced the logic board replacement is going to deliver 100% resolution - are you?
I can't afford the time to chase my laptop over this time of the year for a logic board replacement so am probably going to revert back to Snow Leopard - an inconvenience but at less cost that unchargeable days without my laptop.
I would have even thought that Apple would be reading and contibuting to these forums and threads in some way. Or is this just a way for frustrated users to vent their spleens publically? Therefore the only 'benefit' for Apple is a tarnished brand. I JUST DON'T GET IT???

Dec 21, 2011 7:11 PM in response to nicbee333by tnaseem,Well, in that case I suggest you just keep bleeting away here instead of contacting Apple, who have offered a further 1 year warranty on this issue, assuming that fix they provided doesn't help.

Dec 22, 2011 6:25 AM in response to nicbee333by matt_mac,I was crashing several times a day and have not crashed once in the three weeks since having the board replaced (I got it back on Black Friday). Apple has responded with a clear set of support instructions. It is clear you have seen them. You just choose to ignore the last step.
If you do decide to pursue it, there is a good chance no one at your Apple store has ever heard of this problem. You should print the support note and bring it in.
Sure it sucked not having my computer a few days, but it was well worth it. I was reluctant too, but so far it has worked fine.
My laptop was out of warranty and I paid nothing for the repair.

Dec 25, 2011 9:52 AM in response to whetty101by rbenoit,There is another thread that claims to have a simple file fix... by trashing the

Dec 25, 2011 10:24 AM in response to Adel Sabryby kspes,I don't know :/ sounds like a bit of voodoo to me deleting kernel extensions. I'm a computer programmer and know my way arround kernels and how they work. Deleting a kext file can't be good. do it at your own risk.
but if this thing does help then it prooves that the problem is software related as most of us supect. too much of a cooincidence that all our logic boards got corrupt upon installing lion, eh?

Dec 25, 2011 10:31 AM in response to kspesby Adel Sabry,@kspes yes, this is really strange, and that assures what you are saying, is that I never had a single problem while running 10.6. not even a single kernel panic... all started after Lion, and also only after Lion 10.7.2, while 10.7 worked fine too...
Really I don't know what to do? I am thinking about selling the machine or trade it for the i7 Quadcore 2.4, however some users on the i7 quadcore had kernel too, while their machines do not run nvidia its the new dedicated AMD Radeon HD 6770M ,
I am so confused ... please your opinion is much appreciated ...
