Where is "Backup to Disk" in iTunes 10.4?

Where did "Backup to Disk" go in iTunes 10.4.0.80?

I just upgrade to the new version. I no longer can locate the "Backup to disk" option.

When I look under File->Library the only choices are:

Export Library...

Organize Library

-----

Import Playlist...

Export Playlist...

There is no longer a choice to Backup to Disk.

Go to Support on apple.com ... then go to product ITunes .... at the top in the search bar type 10.3 and it will take you to the link so you can download it.

I personally use a Western Digital My Book Elite that is 2TB to back up all my stuff from my Win 7 PC. With that you can just drag the Copy the ITunes folder right to it and works slick.

Hope that helps.

Why on earth would anyone want to backup 206Gb to DVDs? What happens if you accidentally delete one album from your library? Are you really going churn through the process of restoing all 50+ DVDs? What if just one of those 50 discs goes down? You'll never restore any of them. With a hard disk clone you can restore any particular item on demand, you've one point of failure instead of 50+ and you can even test your backup library. Heck, make two backups if you are worried, it's what I do.

You might not want anything in iTunes 10.4, and I don't know if you have any iOS devices, but I woudn't be surprised if we have to upgrade iTunes before we can install iOS 5.

I have a hard drive backup, as well, but I'm just trying to cover all my bases and have multiple kinds of backups. In my experience, hard drives are more likely to fail than are DVDs. I've been backing up my library on DVDs every few months, so it's not like I'd be starting afresh. I just want to keep up the ongoing DVD backup I've had going for the last few years.

If you have at least three copies of the media files on three different machines then I would think that backup enough. Hopefully you have your other important data backed up in a similar fashion. SyncToy 2.1 would serve you well over your home network for this task, it's not just for use with external drives.

These boards are not for ranting at Apple, they're not listening here. Use iTunes Feedback for that if you want, but while constructive feedback stands naught but a slim chance of being acted on, rants are likely to be ignored.

This is totally ridiculous! My iTunes library is 52 GB. Nearly 8,000 tracks. Probably 90% ripped from my (legally owned) CDs. I had no problem with backup to DVD (11 DVDs) plus incremental backups. I also restored once from them with no problem. On the other hand, I lost 10 years of my family photos when an external hard drive crashed. There is no substitute for non-volatile media. Any IT person will tell you this and all critical data is backed up to tape in larger installations. Does Apple really expect me to pay for iCloud and upload 52 GB of my own property for a fee. Ridiculous. This should be enough for some of us to investigate Linux/Android and deep six the iPhone. Microsoft and Apple, 2 birds with one stone.

Here's a work around:

1) Get date of last backup (e.g. 07/12/2011) from last backup disc

2) Create Smart Playlist by "Date Added" with modifier "after date" of last backup

3) Title it Date from to Date to (eg 07/12/2011 to 12/17/2011) for reference to next backup

4) Save in data format onto disc(s)

No, no don't thank me. But now that we have a work around, can everyone put pressure on Apple to give us back the feature "Backup to Disc" becaue it is much simpler! It is pure evil that they have taken this feature away, and I know it's not their motto but hey ... don't be evil, Apple!
