Cosmopod 4.5.1 crashes Safari 5.1

Hello!

I just installed Safari 5.1 under OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and the bundle CosmoPod 4.5.1 (latest version) was crashing Safari when I tried to open it.

Are you also having the same issue?

I went to /Library/Application support/SIMBL/Plugins/ and removed CosmoPod.bundle

then, Safari launched without any problem!

I'm waiting for an update from Cocoamug software.

🙂

Thanks Klaus. BTW...who papered the walls in here??? 😉

And from the developers of CosmoPod there's this:

Dear CosmoPod registered user,

Thank you for writing. With the release of Safari 5.1, you have encountered an incompatibility problem between CosmoPod and Safari. I have been working hard on a fix for this and will provide a free upgrade version of CosmoPod in the next few days that will solve this issue. Thank you very much in advance for your patience and understanding.

Best Regards,

Marie

Hi Starman--

Thanks for the response, but I was getting nothing from Safari on the crash. On launch, I'd see a blank window, it would look like my homepage would start to load, and then Safari would just abruptly quit. No crash message or anything. It seemed like there was a problem with some extension, but I couldn't load Safari to see which extensions I had installed. I removed everything from the Internet plug-ins folder, trashed preferences, etc., but nothing worked. I had forgotten about CosmoPod, and seeing as it lives in a relatively non-intuitive place, it didn't occur to me to look there.

Anyway, seems like we're all hopefully back on track with Cocoamug taking care of this. Thanks again for your response, and thanks again to Alain for figuring this one out.

Have similar problems. Mine doesn't crash, but the Cosmopod logo in the menu bar disappeared and re-installing it didn't bring it back. Will patiently wait for the update.

Other Safari 5.1 problems I've encountered BTW: I can't print from safari. Once a Print command is sent, the "preparing" window launches and never disappears until I force quite Safari.

Your problem may not be exactly the same as that of the original poster of this thread, and it can be very confusing for everybody if we try to answer more than one question in each thread.

In order for us to give your problem our undivided attention in order to try to solve it, would you kindly start your own thread, describing the trouble you are having in the fullest detail, including completing your details to show what Mac you are using, what operating system, and what version of the application in question.
