In an earlier preview build of Lion, I was able to change the size of the Mailbox font used in the left sidebar to view more content in the column, but I don't remember what I did to change it. The Mail/Preferences/Fonts & Colors pane no longer has a Mailbox font option.
Does anyone know how to change the Mail sidebar font size in Lion?

Go to system prefs > general. change sidebar icon size, and the font size will also change.
Yes I also can´t change the size of fonts in the message list, not side bar. In my Air 11 I must use some kind of microscope to read my email now...
What is going on here? Looks like font is to big to be displayed but there is no way to change it! I tried everything and thats make me already crazy? I can't fix, I cant reinstall mail, I cant go back to default settings...
Any Ideas guys?
Also how I can contact apple and report a bug?

That also changes the associated font size.
I dont see that option in Lion's mail. Instead, to change the sidebar font size, I went into the system pref: general: sidebar icon size: small.
For MacBook Air it's a real pain to use Mail even with Large icon size set in Preferences:General!
Help! Is there any hidden parameter for Mail, that could be triggered through defaults write com.apple.mail?

I have this problem Macbook pro, Leopard 10.5.8 - which does not have a General heading in System Preferences. Is there anything else at all you could suggest - would be most grateful.

FWIW, Mail preferences font setting for Message List works for me.

I put in a very silly font so hopefully you can see what I mean. If you click on
this picture you can of course see more clearly, but it's scaled so slightly distorted.

But there still no option to choose font size for Mailbox and Folders at the Sidebar.
Many thanks to you and all the other suggestions which I received - I am afraid nothing at all worked until I upgraded to SnowLeopard - I then changed the font (not the font size), as per another suggestion and this time, IT WORKED!!!!
All ideas were greatly appreciated - if nothing else, I learnt a lot more about the operation of my Mac!
