4-Finger Swipe Between Apps Not Working

Are the apps actually running full screen?

You must actually be in full-screen mode in an app to swipe between them, not merely in an app that supports full screen. (Full-screen apps are given their own spaces/desktops.)

You can set the gesture for swiping between desktops in the Mouse or Trackpad preferences.

I was experiencing the same thing. Was able to fix it by doing the following

1. Open Trackpad prefs.
2. Switch to the More Gestures tab
3. Change the Swipe between full-screen apps option from 4 to 3 fingers.
4. Try swiping between desktops/apps with 3 fingers and it should work
5. Change the same option back to 4 fingers.

On my Macbook Pro + Magic trackpad, this got the gestures working properly again.

I have the same problem. It does work with three fingers, but when I go back to Preferences and select four fingers, it still doesn't work.

try resetting pram then switching back and forth from 4 fingers to 3 then back again. this finally fixed for me.

hold down cmd+option+p+r on restart

I followed the directions from mt404 and to wkw8888 to change my settings in the System Preferences and the pram. So far, no luck. It was working at first but now it will not.

Any ideas?

In my case, changing the setting from 4 fingers to 3, then back to 4 solved the problem.

I just got a trackpad for my iMac. To get 4 finger desktop/app switching to work I had to follow advice above.

Note that 3 finger drag gets turned off when you do this.. so I had to turn that back on ! Sorted now :-)
