Safari 5.1 - 10.6.8 - Flash input problem

I have the exact same issue.

Flash 10,3,181,34

I also have the same problem on two differnt maccs with 10.6.8 and safari 5.1

Cannot enter text into text boxes in flash sites

Empty the Safari cache then restart your Mac.

if you mean safari/empty cache - that makes no difference

I don't have any problem with firefox or chrome - latest versions

From what I have tested it looks like this problem is with Safari 5.1 and the Flash Debug Player. This problem does not occur (from my tests) with the normal flash players.

Which means this problem will drive flash developers away from Safari and into the arms of FF or Chrome... at least until this issue is resolved.

I have the exact same issue.

I too am having this problem. Big pain for me because I like using the activity window to help debug web applications, now I will have to waste time finding a good subsititute. REALLY wish Apple and Adobe would settle their p***ing contest, and find a compromise instead of making all their users suffer for both side's intransigence.

I just tried going to http://www.adobe.com/devnet-apps/flex/samples/flex4_sparkinc/spark_inc.html, which is mentioned in the original post, and was able to enter text in the search box. I did not do anything when I clicked on Go, but the text was there. using 10,3,181,34

It mostly works with the standard Flash plugin; it's the Flash Debug plugin for development work that is no longer working. I've tried it on the Flex 4 sample site, and it fails there too.

If you run Chrome 12 (i.e. not the beta version) or Firefox, the Flash Debug plugin will work.

I have the same issue. I switched to Chrome but was wondering if there is a fix.

Same problem for me. I also have a strange behavior with the native OS cursor when over the flex app. It disappears...

I've got the same problem. Clearing cache makes no difference. Relaunching Safari makes no difference. Reinstalling the Flash Debug player makes no difference.

that's quite a leap. there's no evidence this was intentional. give the folks a chance to repair the update.
