I started downloading OS X Lion via the App Store today, but then had to restart my Mac.
After restarting, the OS X Lion icon was still in the doc, though clicking it did nothing.
I tried clicking the "install" button on the OS X Lion via the App Store, but still nothing happened.
Am I missing something? I already bought it and installed it on my work mac. All I need to do is install it on my home mac. Why is this so fugged up?
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7)
Control-click the OS X Lion icon in the dock, click Resume.
Hold control then click the icon in the doc and select Resume.
What if one (hypothetically speaking, of course), REMOVED the OS X Lion icon from the dock. How would one restart the download in that case?
I'm having the same issue.
I paused it to do something else because my internet connection isn't very good & pretty much dies for doing anything else when I'm downloading something and now I can't get it to resume.
Under the purchased tab of the app store, all it says is 'Waiting' with no option to resume the download.
Open the Mac App Store and click on the Lion icon in the Purchased page. Should be some option there, but I can't remember exactly what it looks like.
Restart. It should reappear (hypothetically).
I am having the same issue as the original poster and have tried everything listed here to no avail. I have tried cancelling the download, resuming the download and going to the app store to restart the download and nothing works.
I'm having the exact same problem, and have tried everything. The entire process seems half-baked at best to me...what exactly are we "Waiting...." for Apple?
Step 1. Restart your mac.
Step 2. Launch App Store, select "Purchases" pane, and click on "Install" button for OS X Lion.
Step 3. Profit. 🙂

I have attemped this without success. Still, in the dock I see "Waiting" and in the App Store I see "Install". I have cancelled, rebooted, tried to resume, etc, and I am stuck in said scenario. I have been toying with this for at least 1.5 hours now and it still says "Waiting".
i have the same problem as everyone,
tried everything and it still won't resume.
anyone got anything usefull figured out ?
how many user are left hanging like that ?
Edit : it worked again all by itself,
just have to keep trying i guess,
or maybe it needs time to re-calculate the download resume ?

I am pretty highly disappointed in Apple right now. What happened to the simplicity that they constantly harp on? It shouldn't take me two or more days to download this. I was expecting a couple of hours. Come on now...
For me this was solved by clicking in the upperleft menu on "store" >"search uncompleted downloads" then it just cancel paused items and probably resets some status things. After this my paused status dissappears and i could perfrom a fresh install. Besides, before this i was getting continuesly the 1004 error, which also was gone after this "trick". Goodluck.
