I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?
I've got the same problem and an internet search yealds nothing. I'm using McAfee Security 1.x (not sure exactly, it won't launch so how do I find out?)
Mine is a corporate Mac so I need this working. Anyone else find a solution?
I know it's WAY late on this but I'm running 10.7.x and have the same issue. It was thought v. 1.1 would fix it but no.
If you can't launch the McAfee app, Control-Click or Right-Click the app and Get Info or Command+I. The version is in the Get Info box.
I too am in a corp environment and authenticate to Active Directory.
I'm chiming in to say I recently upgraded to Lion and am having the same problem, too. Did anyone find a solution?
The McAfee website is horrible. All I've found is information regarding VirusScan, but I don't have that installed. 😕

Your best bet is to uninstall it (don't just delete it, use the uninstaller).
Most Mac users don't run any such apps, but if you think you really need one, the free ClamXav is as good as any of the paid ones, and the least intrusive.

Yeah and Mac users who DON'T are idiots. You CAN pass on infected files...never good. And there are enough REAL threats out there to cause concern.
EVRY Mac user in an enterprise setting should run some form of AV/Malware...
My solution to the problem was to get the latest version from McAfee. 9.1.
If you have an ePO server, make sure it's got the latest files. I had to run a complete uninstall then reinstall 9.1 and then reboot and open the console and update.
Beg pardon. I am certainly not an idiot and I don't, and never have, used software like McAfee on a Mac, and I support a lot of them. Every A/V package, except for Clam, has been nothing but a world of hurt in the long run. A/V software isn't going to catch something it doesn't know about. We run Clam, as Pondini recommended, so as not to proliferate Windows malware, but for Macs, user awareness and admin-only software install and update procedures are sufficient. The majority of my users run as non-admin, as any enterprise setting should, IMHO.
