Oct 18, 2011 10:44 AM in response to JonPiby Centime,Same here. I've tried all the suggestions. Waiting for a fix . . .
Since Apple doesn't read these boards, I suggest that everyone with the problem notify them via e-mail.

Oct 18, 2011 10:54 AM in response to sonjacalisunshineby dean_j_arnold,Does you WiFi Router have WMM (WiFi Multimedia) capabilities enabled?
I had a similar issue where no apps would connect to the internet. Enabling WMM on my router Wifi worked for me.

Oct 18, 2011 12:34 PM in response to lupunusby waanid,I changed it to 1490 yesterday, and so far my problems seem solved. No wifi-disconnects at all, fully available internet connection.
I did my regular speedtest right after changing the MTU, and reached three times the speed I had gotten used to.
As suggested by Lupunus I changed the MTU to 1492 just now, let's see what happens.
This is all very nice, for a change, 'cause my connections got worse and worse.

Oct 18, 2011 3:40 PM in response to PJRivesby easywelsh,Thanks PJRives,
No I have not done a complete re-install. It has being on for 6 or 7 weeks now and although I have my time machine backups I think it will just be a nightmare. (Not had to conduct a restore before) I only intend to do this if we have a major failure).
I feel myself getting fairly stubborn about it too. Like why should I spend so much time on support calls, messing routers and possibly a compete re-install of my OS etc.
As the latest update made no change I have decided to buy some homeplugs to get around the issue until Apple get their act together.
I am so disappointed with apple and thesupport they have provided. Truly Gutted.

Oct 18, 2011 4:54 PM in response to lupunusby hull3,Changed it to 1492 and I've continued to maintain connection 14 hours now with no drops. Got any tips for why it doesn't sleep in Lion anymore with Mail running?

Hey guys,
Thought I'd share what worked for me...
Upgraded to 10.7.2 last night (MBP 15" 2010) and wifi would work for about 2 minutes and then stop. Finally resolved the issue by manually changing the MTU size from 1500 to a lower figure (I chose 1490)
To change MTU:
System preferences - network (wi-fi tab) - advanced - hardware - configure manually.
I also changed my IPV6 configuration to link-local only, but I don't think this actually helped resolve any issues.
Hope this does the trick for other people...
Many thanks for this post!! My iMac start having problems when I installed the 10.7.1 update. Unfortunately it didn't go away with 10.7.2. The strange thing is that I have a macbook pro with the same lion installation file in the same network and the macbook pro has no problems with the wifi. I think that is very strange!
On my iMac I have tried many things, but nothing worked. When I tried your solution yesterday it seems to work! I changed the MTU to 1490.
Thank you very much for posting this here!!

Oct 19, 2011 8:36 AM in response to lrogersinlvby vialli25,Just an update about my problem.
I had a sneaky suspicion that it might be my cable modem or router causing the problem and not Lion.
I rebooted both my modem and router, and now browsing is fine. However, I did also change the MTU on my router as has been discussed in this thread.
I think it must have just been a massive coincidence that my modem needed a reboot just as I installed Lion. Anyway, I'm going to switch the MTU back to 1500 and monitor the situation.
For anyone else out there having just browsing issues, I would recommend ruling out the modem/router first!!!

Oct 19, 2011 10:50 AM in response to claudio19488by waanid,Today my wifi/internet connection iMac (3.06 GHz Intel Core Duo 4 GB 1076 MHz RAM) is stable with the MTU set to 1492. I've noticed no drops at all.
Two things though:
1. the wifi re-connect after sleep is definitely slower than I was used to before Lion;
2. yesterday there was a marked increase in speed, but today I'm back to half of those speeds.
I just did a little test at http://naaldwijk.speedtest.net/, changing the settings within two minutes as follows:
MTU 1492: 12,81 Mbps
MTU 1500: 9,91 Mbps
MTU 1492: 7,28 Mbps
MTU 1500: 9,41 Mbps
Could anyone explain (briefly) what the MTU actually does?
Is there any connection to the speed of the internet connection?
What is the connection with the wifi/internet drops?

Oct 19, 2011 11:15 AM in response to waanidby MacZwik,When I wanted to change the 1490 into 1492 it was autmaticly set back to 1500 (yesterday I changed it into 1490 and I did not change it back). The configure is still on manually. My internet is stable now... Maybe just changing configure to manually will do it?

Oct 19, 2011 3:12 PM in response to lrogersinlvby manny.key,I appear to have your identical problem, not the drop-out issues others are having. When I expand the wi-fi fan menu it indicates the PowerBook Pro is connected to the wi-fi network ( Checkmark is on) but at the top of the menu the Wi-Fi item is a grayed-out and cycles between “Looking for networks“ and “On”. The menu icon shows a good, stong connection. The Wi-Fi prefeence panel show Wi-Fi is connected with an assigned IP address. This never changes.
All our other devices (another MacBook, an iPad and two iPhones) have no problem accessing the Internet through Wi-Fi when I turn Wi-Fi off on the MacBook Pro, but while it is on, it seems to suck all the bandwidth out of our network.
I tried the recent tip to change channels in my Airport Extreme but this had no effect.
Have you found a solution to your specific problem yet?
Thanks,
manny.key

Oct 19, 2011 3:43 PM in response to manny.keyby Tendoformer,I was having an issue where the wifi was connecting to my school's wireless network but wouldn't load the authentication page.
This solved it for me:
http://blog.chron.com/techblog/2011/09/want-to-really-repair-permissions-on-your -mac-try-this/It involves resetting permissions in Recovery Mode (but through typing resetpassword in the Terminal).
Hope this helps some people!

Oct 19, 2011 4:17 PM in response to Tendoformerby CamCaGuy,After much frustration trying most, if not all, of the suggested solutions, I just tried the suggestion from Tendoformer above. I did this on both of my iMacs. It resoved the problem of connecting on waking from sleep. I hope this is the end of this issue for me, and for many others in the same boat.
