Nov 11, 2011 2:23 PM in response to JPSEby eve from santa monica,I'm very reluctant to buy a new base station - my gut tells me its Lion not Airport. Thanks for the feedback.

Nov 11, 2011 8:14 PM in response to eve from santa monicaby JPSE,Hey, like I said: it worked for me...I'm not gong to suggest that it will work for anyone, but my old Airport router was 6 years old. When I amortized, with a much more robust system in mind, I have had no problems.
This does not mean that Lion is not the problem, of course ...

Vergogna!!!

Nov 12, 2011 4:45 AM in response to IlVallettoby ryyjma from san fedele intelvi,...sicuro di avere atheros 9380 e non 9280? Stessa esatta mia configurazione! comunque poco importa....nessuna soluzione è stata rilasciata e ormai penso che il problema non interessi proprio ad apple....non so neanche a cosa serva questo Apple Support Communities....
Fai come me, passa al cavo ethernet!
Buona giornata!

RIMEDIATEEEEE!!!!

Since I installed Lion wifi does not work, is really a scandal, how Apple can tell that Lion is the best operating system in the world when wifi dowsn't work?? When I used Windows I have always had problems, but never so severe.
SOLVE THE PROBLEM !!

Nov 13, 2011 9:10 AM in response to lrogersinlvby aberges,Finally my WiFi connection with Lion is working fine... I have just to wait about 10 sec after a sleep when I re-activate my iMac.
What changed I made?
My ISP called Free (I'm in France) delivered a new Box meaning a new router (this is not related to my iMac, but I just change my subscription to benefit of their new and improved Box).
So what is said in this thread by lupunus is true that the WiFI network is the root of the problem.
BUT as all of the users who complain Snow Leopard was perfectly working with ANY router, this was my case I didn't have any issue with WiFi with SL. All started after the Lion upgrade.
The Lion upgrade , in fact is a downgrade in term of WiFi connectivity: Lion is less robust than Snow Leopard in that respect. So this is clearly a LION issue, and we have to hold APPLE as responsible.

Nov 13, 2011 12:17 PM in response to abergesby graeme170,Just picked this up as I have been having the same issues. I have an old MacBook and a newer version. The newer version was having consistent problems since upgrading to Lion but the old one wasn't. I also run Windows 7 on the old MacBook. Today, both Lion installs had problems but Windows was fine. After a few hours of playing it seems the router only broadcasts/operates certain security standards regardless of waht is set. My router is mixed WPA/WPA2 with AES and TKIP on 20/40Mhz. But Windows 7 only connects on WPA TKIP. I am not sure how to see what Lion is connecting on but I suspect if you set the security in Lion but the router is not transmitting the same then you will clearly have problem. Lion seems to default to AES and not TKIP. Perhaps if there is one of those smart readers looking at this they could expand on this issue. I will try and find out and come back to this place if I find anything concrete. - It maybe that the router elects based on other signals around - I have about 15 other routers in the area. I suspect also that Lion and maybe wndows caches setting and this may add additional confusion when trying to resolve the issue. I turned off the machine each time I made a change and changing the setting didn't always get applied.

Nov 13, 2011 2:50 PM in response to graeme170by CamCaGuy,I had problems with connecting to WiFi on awakening from sleep with Lion. After trying many suggested fixes, I woound up with these settiings that seem to work fine now for me since October 22. I also found that switching from TKIP to AES made connection quicker and more reliable for my iPhone 4S and my Netflix on LG BD390 Blu-Ray player.
I went through the Repair Permissions procedure described at this link. It only takes a minute or less. Then re-started my Mac.
http://blog.chron.com/techblog/2011/09/want-to-really-repair-permissions-on-your -mac-try-this/
I then went through these steps:
Network settings on my iMac (Early 2009 Intel) with Lion 10.7.2
I deleted my WiFi from main Network page under Settings and from the Prefered Networks list under Settings>Network>Advanced.
I then Added WiFi on Settings>Network page using the + and teh bortom of the left-hand column.
I selected the WiFi network I wanted to use.
I went to Seetings>Network>Advanced and using + added the WiFi network as a WPA Personal security level and clicked box for "Remember networks on this computer"
Under TCP/IP, Configure IPv6 I selected "Link-Local only" (whether or not this matters, I don't know. It works, so I have left well enough alone)
Under Hardware I have set Configure to "Manually" and MTU: 1500 - I tried a few times to set it to 1492, but it always defaulted to 1500 so I left it alone (Again, it may not be important, but it is working for me)
While none of this may help the issues on a MacBook, they have resolved my failure to connect to WiFi on awakening from sleep with LION. Never had a problem with Snow Leopard. I read in one of these many posts a description/explanation that Lion is more discerning than Snow Leopard to the WiFi settings.
For the record. I am still using the same Verizon FiOS Actiontec router I have been using since 2007. I made no changes to operating channel or to operating frequency.
I hope this will be usefull for some of you, at least.

Nov 13, 2011 3:37 PM in response to CamCaGuyby donald266,The problem of the wifi link dropping out had been plauging me for months. I have to disable and re-enable the wifi to get it to reconnect, very frustrating. I have a brand new MBP 2011 13" running lion and an older MBP 2010 13" running lion that was upgraded from Snow Leopard. I have tried all the solutions around and none have really helped at all. I tried downgrading the wifi kernel driver back to the snow leopard version but still no joy. There is maybe 3-4 other WAP's in my range.
I had an old Cisco WAP lying around the house and thought that i would run that up and use that instead of my ADSL router's built in wifi. The thing that would cause the wifi to disconnect consistently was movement ie. Moving from one room to another would be a good test to make the wifi dropout and do the restart on the mac. Ever since i have upgraded to the Cisco WAP I have had zero dropouts!! Yay!! I can once more reveal in my wifi glory and move about the house!! It has been about 2 weeks now. No problems with wake from sleep etc.
So why has this fixed my problem?? The ADSL router i use is a Billion brand, my thinking is that with the introduction of lion Apple has introduced an incompatibility with certain wifi chipsets. I am not sure what wifi chipset my billion router is using but i also think the majority of the users with problems on this forum may find that the chipset's used in their routers will be the same kind that is used in my billion.
Cheers
Don

Nov 13, 2011 4:03 PM in response to lrogersinlvby robtbrodie,SUCCESS
I Have MBP 2011 15"
Worked perfectly till I installed Lion.
Then frequent annoying dropouts.
Fiddled with all sorts of settings including those recommended for my Billion router with no success at all until I
Changed ROUTER CHANNEL from 11, which all my neighbours use, to 13 and
improved the dropout rate for the better.
About a week ago, following advice I found on some forum, thanks, I changed
the setting for IPv6 to "'Link-local" in the advanced network prefs TCP pane
Not a dropout since, at home or abroad
Phew, Hooray,
