Nov 23, 2011 12:57 PM in response to gphoneiby laechleviel,- I have called Apple`s support-hotline and they couldn`t help me yet.
- I sent two detailed bug-reports via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html (the first one four weeks ago, the second one two weeks ago) and there hasn`t been any reaction yet.
- In most of the cases (just read through this post carefully) visiting a Genius would be useless and the Genius would better have to visit the user...
This covers with the experience of many other users who replied to this post (once again: you just need to read through this post carefully!!!). Even if there obviously is some users who just go like "Apple fix this" without really describing their problem and what they tried to fix it you can`t generalize it...
It`s not about Apple having a good support or not. It`s about Apple`s communication-behaviour!!! This discussion would stop immediately if they would just admit there is a known issue an they`re working on it (because of some "behind-the-scenes-networking" I did within the last weeks I know from three reliable sources they know there is an issue...). But this would not fit to the exaggerated image of perfection they have built up over years... This is just my personal opinion!

Nov 23, 2011 1:05 PM in response to lrogersinlvby laechleviel,Just as an idea: Does anybody know if there is a way (a command or whatever...) to turn off Airdrop completely?
This probably could help to narrow the source of the issue...

Nov 23, 2011 1:18 PM in response to laechlevielby HughJarse,That sounds like a fantastic business plan, release a piece of hardware that doesn’t work properly then sell a “care” policy so the poor suckers can try to get it working
Incidentally this was a new machine and not an existing bit of kit that I upgraded the operating system
I did try to call Crapple care, I registered my machine was then given a selection of time slots when apple would call me back
Since setting the router to wireless b/g only it has been stable but as I said in my previous post how am I supposed to work in the interim??
Well at 1600 tomorrow when they call meback I will have the answer, it seems a cop out blaming the end users existing kit

Nov 25, 2011 2:22 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Bill3,I just upgraded MBP to Lion and my wi-fi speed test are about 75% lower than Snow Leopard. iPad beside it gets 5.36 Mbps DL and .82 upload, while MBP is 1.08 and .69 respectively.

Nov 25, 2011 5:16 PM in response to lrogersinlvby mainne,And months later I am still waiting for a solution.
After installing Lion and having the very same problem, I had to reinstall my good and old Snow Leopard.
I hope Apple finds the solution soon; customers are angry

Nov 25, 2011 5:51 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Kevin Wilson,Sigh..... Its a shame this issue isn't being taken seriously.... All my SL machines work fine but the Lion machines is crap with wireless. My girlfriend said it best, "what is wrong with this machine".....
The fact of the matter is Lion does not do as good with wireless as other OSes including Windows.... Its very unstable. I have to turn off/on wireless every 15-20 minutes for stuff to work....

Nov 26, 2011 8:10 AM in response to lrogersinlvby RolliePohlie,Add me as another victim of Lion WiFi problems. Since installing Lion, my 13" MacBook Pro has had unusably slow speeds over WiFi. On every WiFi enabled device I have in the house I get about 20Mbps but most of the time I receive less than 1Mbps on my MacBook Pro. It randomly disconnects and fluxuates. I hate using it now.
Apple, are you going to fix this?

Nov 26, 2011 11:12 AM in response to RolliePohlieby ironnickmac,I've always been a PC guy.
Since I've got an iPhone and an iPad and I'm pleased with those, I've choose to buy an iMAC for my stepfather. He is not an computer geek, in fact, he is a beginner.
Since we have setup is new computer, Wifi dropouts occured regularely. Now, he just wants to get a refund and buy a PC.
Apple! Do something!
(even if it's just to talk to your clients!)
DO SOMETHING!!!

Nov 26, 2011 8:55 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Carl Eberling1,Add me to the crew of people suffering this problem. I have several machines in the house that have successfully made the Lion upgrade, but the iMac 27 in seems to be DOA when it comes to Transmitting wirelessly. It receives OK, slow, but OK. The problem is cant send emails from the machine, cant send print jobs (wireless networked printers) and need this problem fixed....

Nov 27, 2011 5:44 PM in response to Carl Eberling1by Kanihoncho,I have sent THREE detailed bug reports to apple and still nothing, I am going to ask for my money back if it isn't fixed by the end of the year. I will picket the apple store if they don't refund my money.

Nov 27, 2011 10:21 PM in response to lrogersinlvby jliv,Joining this depressing club.
iMac mid-2010
Lion
WIFI is so slow it is unusuable.
Just upgraded to Lion from Snow Leopard. This seemed to improve things slightly, but WIFI still too slow to use.
Multiple Apple and other devices in house, all working fine.
Two NetGear WIFI Routers (one upstairs and one downstairs). Same results on both.
Both routers support 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Both yeild same results.
At my wits end.
None of the various "fixes" have worked, including PRAM and DNS.
Wired Ethernet works like a champ.
Apple swapped out my Airport Card, but no luck.
Desperate times call for desperate measure: Ordering NetGear Ethernet over Power solution for $121 on Amazon.
Apple please resolve this for your many customers who are suffering with this problem.

Nov 28, 2011 12:46 AM in response to jlivby laechleviel,Just found this site via google today: http://www.nattl.at/2011/10/howto-disable-airdrop-on-osx-lion/
It describes how to switch off Airdrop completely (Airdrop still is my suspicious No. 1 for the wi-fi-problems which obviously came to MANY users with Lion...). Since I first have to go back to Lion`s drivers for the Atheros-chipset again (I wen`t back to Snow Leopard`s drivers and have NO wi-fi-problems since then...) I`ll try it this evening and post the results here...
Maybe you should give this a try as well...

Nov 28, 2011 11:59 AM in response to Columbus1966by Cyclic,Columbus1966 on Page 88, this actually did seem to resolve the issue for me for now, but I also did DHCP with manual IP and used the same IP as the DHCP assigned IP just before following your steps. So just to be sure I am clear, I changed DHCP manual to auto after using manual IP mode, then followed your steps, and it works.
Thanks!

Nov 28, 2011 5:12 PM in response to laechlevielby thebigmushroom,Just bought a brand new MBP 27'' and connected fine for 2 days. Now nothing..... have been through all suggested fixes but judging from the size of this thread this issue is not an easy fix.
I honestly feel like crying (no joke) I have just downsized my setup from a 2010 mac pro running snow leopard (no issues EVER) to this piece of crap OS that cant even connect to WIFI.
i cant even go back to snow leopard if i wanted to... very dissapointing...
