Feb 20, 2012 7:27 PM in response to Timbro69by Joseph Kriz,We can look at so many posts here that state they fixed the problem only to come back a day or two later saying the problem is back....
It's like the prior governor of California, Arnold, saying, "I'll be Back".........
I predict there will be some kind of a fix coming directly from Apple this week.....
EDIT:
I see we just hit page 126.............

Feb 20, 2012 7:35 PM in response to Joseph Krizby Tony850,I sure hope so. I don't have my fingers crossed or my hopes up. I am just tired of receiving **** from co-workers that i have to use a USB card on my 1200+ macbook pro. This does not bode well in an office that is split on Windows PC vs. Mac users.

Feb 20, 2012 8:59 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Pyrgos,In fact, there are some more issues probably connected to this wifi-issue: I have noticed that sometimes e.g. a DVD or CD may suddenly disappear from the finder sidebar ocr from the desktop and the only way to get it back in visible state is by making it visible through the Disc Utility. The system also seems to have problems finding the hard disc for the Time machine. I noticed that there had been no safety copies for a long time, although the disc was connected an on. When I inspected the situation, I got the message that the system cannot find the disc! When I restarted the computer, the issue disappeared, at least for the time being!
21,5" iMac late 2011, i7 Mac OSX 10.7.3 (The Time machine -hard disc is a La Cie unit, which has worked fine and without any probles until now).

Feb 21, 2012 3:41 AM in response to lrogersinlvby ozJennym,Well as a new Mac user I must say i am incredibly disappointed. after a lifetime of PCs I bought a MacAir and an iPhone. The continuously dropping out internet through wifi has cost me HOURS and HOURS of lost work and we nearly missed out on a client because we couldn't submit a proposal via the net due to drop outs. Does apple seriously think they can sell a product that doesn't work and then ignore it for over a year??????? I think I might have to go back to PCs

Feb 21, 2012 3:53 AM in response to ozJennymby Pyrgos,The problem you are talking about is not the same as we have been talking about here for some time now: You seem to have problems connecting to the internet. My problem is that my iMac does not connect authomatically to my local wifi station when it wakes up. When I connect it manually, it will srtay tuned to the station absolutely rock-steady as long as I do nog let it fall asleep. But I sometimes experience drop-outs in the internet, but that is a totally other case and (at least in my case) has nothing to do with the computer or the system.

Feb 21, 2012 4:21 AM in response to Pyrgosby ozJennym,Thanks - actually my mac continually goes to searching for networks and then is stable for a while and then voila it drops out again- maybe 20 times in 20 mins or it can be ok for an hour. it isn't the internet as all the PCs work fine as does my ipod and iphone

Feb 21, 2012 4:43 AM in response to ozJennymby Pyrgos,I admit; that is quite a mysterious problem. I have never experienced that. Seems to me that you have some kind of hardware-problem: The Airport-card?

Feb 21, 2012 6:36 AM in response to PCCustodianby Timbro69,PCCustodian, maybe you can fill in any gaps in what I did as I can't remember. I am a graphic artist NOT a networking guy. So forgive me but I forgot exactly what I did.
I did discover what file from the library I threw away. As I found it in the trash. I went to library, then preferences, then system configurationn and threw that file away after deleting the wifi and ethernet configurations in the networking part of system preferences. I then created them from scratch. Does that make sense to you?
I do notice that today I am having no problems with the computers. They are staying connected. I searched for the "For Apples Eyes Only" Article on google and could not find it anywhere. It is only accessible by some apple techs. Not even authorized repair facilities have access to it. You would think apple would want to get the info out so that it would have more happy customers but I do understand that they probably don't want people in the library deleting system files. They could make a problem and huge problem. What do you guys think?

Feb 21, 2012 7:22 AM in response to Pyrgosby TonyK58,The is very little to no evidence that this is a hardware problem, at least for me (27" iMac). This began with 10.7.3 a few weeks ago which was supposed to fix a wifi connectivity problem that I had not experienced before that update. Large numbers of people have experienced the same problem in the same time period, which basically excludes a widescale breakdown of hardware in hundreds of computers simultaneously.
It's a software problem involving reconnection of the wifi after sleep, nothing more than that in my case.

Feb 21, 2012 7:25 AM in response to TonyK58by TonyK58,BTW, I see that the 10.7.3 update is still available on the Apple Support website for download. I really think they should withdraw that.

Feb 21, 2012 7:33 AM in response to TonyK58by Cambo III,It actually started happening under 10.6 on my iMac, TonyK58, so some of us have been suffering from it for almost two years, which is why we're SO ****** at Apple for not having addressed this issue, or at least come on board and tell us 'it's really, really complicated and we're working on it', but they haven't. So we have multiple threads on this with over 100,000 hits each, and some VERY ****** off long-term customers like me.
Could you at least come on board here, Apple, and tell us what you're doing, if anything, about this. I know it's just a nagging, annoying little problem, having to sit and wait for 30 seconds EVERY time you wake the computer up from sleep, but man it's annoying. And it really doesn't have to be; my iPad stays connected for DAYS while sleeping, and wakes up instantly, and still connected. It, apparently, can be done.
Anybody from APPLE listening out there? There's lots of ****** off people here - we deserve at least a response.
Seriously,
Cameron
an Apple fan boy (at least for now)...

Feb 21, 2012 7:48 AM in response to Cambo IIIby TonyK58,Cambo III, I am fully in agreement with you complaint about the lack any, ANY, formal communication from Apple to acknowledge that this problem exists. These boards are in the apple.com domain. You'd think they'd have the courtesy to at least agree that there's a problem and say that they're working to fix it. And from even a brief Google search, it's obvious that wifi problems have existed for years on Macs. As I said, my own experience was fine up to a few weeks ago with a release of an update that seems to have introduced problems where none existed before on my computer.
Having said that, I was contacted by an Appple engineer a couple of days ago who asked me to start logging what my system was doing and then reproduce the problem and send him the log files. I dutifully complied, but got no acknowledgement or response. I'll take it that he's working on this problem. Others here have also been contacted by Apple, so it's certain that they know about this issue.
When the Apollo 13 craft was in space, badly damaged after an explosion, NASA engineers were able to get it and the crew back safely by making critical fixes and decisions in hours. It's mind boggling that Apple, a half-trillion dollar company, hasn't yet been able to fix a wifi connectivity problem that's been going on this long.

Feb 21, 2012 8:05 AM in response to TonyK58by jeroen184,Tony, Cambo,
As long as we reflect, philosophize, discuss, etc. on this board, Apple will never respond. I am amazed this has not been widely picked up by external media and dedicated Mac websites. Which presents a powerful idea, which you can guess: alert some of these media to the problem, and Apple will have to react to avoid reputation and market share damage (but sitting on those billions makes me worry).
Why not send a formal hardcopy letter to 1 Infinite Loop and make the doorman sign them in? Keeps the poor man busy all day and draws a bit of an attention if a couple of 1000 letters arrive. Just alone because of the oldfashionness.

Feb 21, 2012 8:09 AM in response to Cambo IIIby Carlo TD,It is not up to Apple to Address your network issue... You need to address it.
