Feb 25, 2012 12:48 AM in response to lrogersinlvby ChristianMoehler,I hope Apple offers also fixes for the MacBook Air, and the MacBook.
Yet the problem (Lion + wifi, no autoatically connection after sleep) is only solved for the iMac - but not for MacBooks....

Feb 25, 2012 7:13 PM in response to ChristianMoehlerby RichBP,Just wanted to post and say that the update of a couple of days ago seems to be holding on my late '11 iMac. I've shut down twice, put it to sleep quite a few times and it's always come up connected to my wifi with no hesitation. Hope they get it worked out soon for the Macbook and Macbook Air.

Feb 25, 2012 7:41 PM in response to RichBPby Robert Hancock3,I just wish Apple would issue the same patch for the earler iMacs with 11.7.3 (11D50)! My 6,1 (2006) shows exactly the same problems with losing connection to a new AEBS when waking after sleeping and switching users. I have posted a bug report too.
Oddly, my MacBook (4,1 and early 2008) running exactly the same software and connecting to the same AEBS does not have a problem.
Annoying.

Feb 26, 2012 4:03 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Peter_Belgium,Just installed "iMacWi-FiUpdate.dmg" with high expectations as this fu*** is bothering me now for 8 months.
Guess what: after the restart (and so not after going into sleep mode...) the wifi network could not be restored. I'm getting very desperate: definately will install Snowleopard back in teh next coming week.
Had highe esteem and expectation of Apple....

Feb 26, 2012 6:58 AM in response to RichBPby rockeeeeeee,Just want to let the posters who are posting in this thread know: this thread is solved - I started a new thread about the update here, so please, go there and let everyone know how it's working for you so we can compare notes on the new update.
Thanks.

Feb 26, 2012 8:30 AM in response to rockeeeeeeeby Javajoe,Has anyone been use the new EMI update with an older iMac? Mine is a mid-2007 that has the wake from sleep issue. I've been hesitant to try 10.7.3 since others have had a problem with it. I also posted on rockeeeeee's new thread.

Feb 26, 2012 9:19 AM in response to Peter_Belgiumby Cambo III,You must have other problems, Peter. Mine's working flawlessly.
It must ave been a tough fix for it to have taken this long for Apple to fix it.
Thanks,
Cameron

Feb 26, 2012 7:31 PM in response to max hampelby newtritious,@Max Hampel - to echo the words of another poster on this forum - THANK YOU, THANK YOU, A MILLION TIMES, THANK YOU! I just tried your fix, and it seems to be working. Hazzah! This is after calls with my ISP, router manufacturer, several calls with Apple tech support (with each tech saying something different, none of which worked, of course), replacing my router, changing my DNS servers, playing with my wireless channels, experimenting with my wireless baby monitor, and dabbling in some voodoo chanting. (I think I'll keep doing the chanting though; it's rather soothing.) My next step was going to be having my airport card replaced, even though I strongly suspected that would not fix the problem....
So, again, THANK YOU!
Now, if we could only switch Rick Santorum from N to G, maybe his connection problems would be fixed as well....

I wouldn't waste my time responding to the original poster here.
He hasn't been back here since he posted this on June 20, 2011.....
His other 3 thread has no activity from him here either so apparently he no longer cares or has fixed his problems...

You guys are beating a dead horse here... The horse can't take anymore beatings.... It's already dead..........
I totally disagree. This thread is the central repository for information on this topic. It makes no difference if the OP is here watching, replying or not. The issue has not been addressed, more and more workarounds have been suggested and some models seem to be addressed with updates by Apple. This is the best place to continue this discussion.

Feb 27, 2012 10:06 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Pyrgos,Apple resently released a Wifi-update and that release cured my problems. No Wifi-problem any more! This comment applies to 21,5" iMac (i7), late 2011.

Feb 28, 2012 10:40 AM in response to rockeeeeeeeby NKPG,rockeeeeeee,
I saw your other post.
But why do you say this one is solved ?
there still are people having "Lion Wifi Connection problem" as the title says
I am one of them...
-
Feb 28, 2012 2:30 PM in response to NKPGby rockeeeeeee,I'm sorry. This thread isn't solved, per se, but the original poster hasn't been here and since there is the new update, (this post wasn't about the v1.0 update), I started the new thread pertaining to that so that people can comment on the v1.0.
Feel free to post on the other thread, so that we can get people with the v1.0 update to keep us up to speed and see who's still having issues and who isn't.
Sorry for the confusion.

Feb 28, 2012 11:34 PM in response to max hampelby yukselappstore, max hampel wrote:
Once again, here's a simple workaround that worked for me and at least 3 other people with the drop-out problem:
Disabled n-mode on my router, rock stable connection ever since.
So again for everyone with the "drop-out"-problem:
- Go to your router/Airport configuration,
- search for "Wireless Settings", change "Radio Mode" or "Wireless Network Mode" to
- "802.11b/g only" or "802.11G only" or "2.4GHz Only" or "G Only".
No more dropouts for me.
If you can't find this setting, post the model of your router and I will try to direct you there, it's a really easy workaround that takes 5 minutes to try out.
If it works you'll only sacrifice some wireless speed for stability until it's fixed by Apple.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's what my original problem looked like:
2008 macbook, worked fine with SL, on Lion the WiFi symbol showed a connection, but every few minutes the internet just "stopped".
All other devices (iphone, android phone, win laptop, ps3) worked just fine, and had a steady connection, while the macbook was out.
diagnosed this by pinging google on all devices, and every device kept a stable connection, only the macbook was timing out.
Since several people posted that it "worked on their 2year-old router, but not the new one" I tried to make my new "N"-router older, or simply slower. and it worked.
Things I tried that didn't work (again, for me):
setting fixed DNS-server, setting the router to "N"-mode only, setting router to fixed channel.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
So once again, please try this simple workaround and post if it worked.
THIS WORKS. Amazing. My problem was a little different than everyone else's, my iMac kept giving me a "timed out" response when I tried to connect to my wifi network and it would take forever to shut off wireless, wait a few minutes, and try again. I changed my Netgear's mode to "150 mbps b/g/n mixed mode" from "150 mbps g/n only mode" and everything's fast and working now.
Thank you Max!

Feb 29, 2012 11:15 AM in response to yukselappstoreby LMStone510,FWIW, I have a late 2010 MBA upgraded to Lion with all patches including the recent EFI update - plenty of wireless problems, which started only after upgrading from Snow Leopard.
No problems with Wi-Fi when connecting to Apple Airports and Time Capsules, but wireless is unusable in most corporate environments, including at our own offices where we have a SonicWall TZ-210W with the latest firmware.
What we did to make the MBA's wireless work acceptably well is to change two default settings on the SonicWall.
First, as others have posted, we turned off b/g/n and found "b/g" or "g only" were required to be able to even ping the gateway (the SonicWall). Still, running a constant ping in a terminal window showed most times averaging several hundred milliseconds and frequent dropped packets (about one in seven dropped packets). Web browsing was essentially comparable to being connected to a 56K modem. But, this was progress.
After experimenting with numerous other wireless settings and combinations of settings available on the SonicWall, the only other setting that made any noticeable difference was Wireless > Advanced > Data Rate: which we changed from the default setting of "Best" to "24Mbps".
Once we made that change wireless on the MBA was very usable. Dropped packets virtually disappeared, ping times from the MBA to the SonicWall stabilzed at between 1.5 ms and 4.5 ms, with the occasional increase to 250 + ms as multiple clients loaded web pages and performed downloads.
We tested with the SonicWall between 5' and 50' away from the MBA, which made no difference. We also tried changing channels as there are perhaps 20 other APs within range - no difference. We tried different power levels on the SonicWall as well - no difference. WPA/WPA2/WEP/Open - no difference.
So, like others, this definitiely seems to us to be a hardware/software/firmware issue with the MBAs, but if you are trying to connect to a SonicWall, the two changes above are what worked for us.
Hope that helps,
Mark
