Jul 30, 2011 1:16 PM in response to nbooradley23by simon57,Thanks for the Facebook link.
I see someone on there has managed to get a refund for Lion. I wonder if that starts a deluge!
Before I tried installing Lion, I was told I had to upgrade to the latest version of SL (10.6.7) as of a few days ago. I see that has already been superseded by 10.6.8. Googling it I found this comment on 9TO5 Mac website:
One small noteworthy bit from the latest 10.6.8 build. It appears Apple is readying the Mac App Store for doing wholesale updates to Lion. In the release notes, you get the following:
We’re pretty sure Apple will also sell packaged Lion upgrades but that remains to be seen. Also 10.6.8 Identifies and removes the MacDefender Malware.
Makes you wonder if the new release includes anything that helps make Lion work properly...

Jul 30, 2011 3:42 PM in response to simon57by Chris-King,My router is an 'N' router (Belkin), I have just switched the N off so its on B+G, ill let you know in a day or two if it makes a difference - probably wont but I have tried everything else suggested here!

Jul 30, 2011 4:13 PM in response to simon57by putnik,10.6.8 was out before the Lion launch on 20 July. We were always advised Snow Leopard should be this version in order to download Lion from MAS. I think your comments are quite ignorant.

Jul 30, 2011 7:16 PM in response to lrogersinlvby MitchF,I have this Wi-Fi connectivity issue too on a brand new 2011 Mac Mini with Lion. Wireless drops out regularly - multiple times a day. Turning Wi-Fi on and off doesn't always fix the problem. Some things I've tried that appear to work are:
- Doing the 'Assist me...' routine in network prefs
- Deleting the Wi-Fi network password from Keychain Access
On multiple occasions a full reboot does nothing to restore Wi-Fi.
My previous Mini on SL never had this issue.
Bummed.

Jul 31, 2011 4:06 AM in response to lrogersinlvby jptchelt,It is driving me insane. And how ironic that it dropped the connection as I was trying to reply to this thread! I've nevr evr had any problems prior to installing Lion. And what is irritating me the most is that I don't seem to be seeing an acknowledgement that there is a problem when clearly there is! Aaaarrggh!

Jul 31, 2011 4:27 AM in response to jptcheltby Davegt,There clearly is a problem that is affecting very many users and Apple cannot ignore this. With Snow Leopard the wifi was very stable and now it is very unpredictable. Let's hope for a fix soon otherwise many will be asking for a refund on the basis it is not fit for purpose. On another point I have noticed that the magic mouse cursor now moves to another part of the screen all by itself. A minor irritation that didn't happen with SL. On balance I do like the new features but hope the issues are soon resolved.

Jul 31, 2011 4:29 AM in response to jptcheltby paulofromtrofa,Hi,
I tryed everything and nothing work. More time in some cases without drop but drop.
I assume that Mac have to solve this issue ASAP or I have to demand to cover my losses.
You can do this or do that but I insist nothing work like we have in snow leopard: never have any problem.
Regards

Jul 31, 2011 10:25 AM in response to nbooradley23by Robeddie,Good page.
I too have had the problem with Lion wifi, on THREE separate computers.
On all three, I'm lucky to stay connected to the internet for more than a minute.
My router is an airport extreme, so I'm using all apple gear.
When I reinstalled snow leopard on my macbook air, the problem went away - so I'm sure this is a Lion problem.
HOW DID APPLE NOT CATCH THIS PROBELM BEFORE RELEASING LION!!!
It's not like this is an off-beat kind of thing to check out.
MAKING SURE A COMPUTER CAN PROPERLY CONNECT TO THE INTERNET IS GROUND ZERO WHEN TESTING A NEW OPERATING SYSTEM!
I just don't get it.

Jul 31, 2011 11:08 AM in response to lrogersinlvby coolpt7,i have IMAC 21.5 and upgrade it in LION- WITH NO TOOTH-.....I HAVE MY MONEY BACK ,BEACAUSE THE WIFI DISCONECTED EVERY MINUTE.........WHERE IS APPLE???

Jul 31, 2011 11:53 AM in response to jptcheltby Robeddie,To be sure, that's never been Apple's M-O.
They almost never (antennagate being an exception) talk about bugs or problems publically. Instead, they'll hopefully fix it in the next .1 release.
For me, I'll let the fanboys enjoy all the superfluous Lion eye-candy. Me, I'm back on an OS that 'just works" - Snow Leopard.

Jul 31, 2011 12:16 PM in response to snowymuelby csmith.tech,My issues with wifi quit when I switched to Lion actually, however I had this issue with SL. I suggest trying to run all software updates. What hasn't been fixed by those should be fixed in 10.7.2 which will be released soon. Until then I would probably suggest turning airport off, then turning it back on. This generally seems to resolve any major issues.
Of course you can do this through terminal as well by running an ifconfig en1 dn then ifconfig en1 up.
