Aug 1, 2011 2:45 AM in response to nbooradley23by akifumi,For me changing the router helps; initially I had a veryunstable wifi that cuts off as and when it pleases (I was using Lynsys WT54G) until I give up and switch to Ethernet, to have stable Internet. Two days later I tried again with the existing router and this time it worked better; but the WiFi will cut off once lion goes to sleep; eventually I purchased a time capsule and since then WiFi is pretty stable. =|

Aug 1, 2011 2:59 AM in response to lrogersinlvby s.illes79,I have similar issues:
on my imac 27" 2011 model:
with 10.6 never had any issues with connection to my router, ever sinse I upgraded to 10.7 it keeps dropping the connection once in a while, or fails to reconnect especial after sleep/reboot.
My other devices still work fine with the same router: 2010 macbook pro with 10.6 !!!, other laptop with linux and phones etc.
so it must be an issue with Lion. I'm holding back the upgrade on my macbook pro till this issue is solved.

Aug 1, 2011 4:14 AM in response to lrogersinlvby walter_ud_it,Hi,
I resolved (for now! ) the problem in this manner: I had the MBP working and the iMac not.
I transferred with the "migration assistent" via ethernet all from MBP to iMac -including system settings- and now the iMac works fine (since two hours). (the MBP continues ok..)

Aug 1, 2011 4:19 AM in response to alastairmacby force246,I could'nt agree more! You wrote exactly what's on my mind. And the "Genius-responses" whitch seem to explain that "our software is perfect an the problem must come frome somewhere else" are as anoying as they are arrogant! Time to face that there ARE problems and that they NEED TO BE FIXED!

Aug 1, 2011 4:59 AM in response to lrogersinlvby gokhanki,Dear William Kucharski,
I tried everthing but nothing works for me. You may not have a problem but I have. Believe me it is really annoying. Moreover the nearst Apple Store( I don't know what you say in US) is 400 km away for me. So how can I quit my job and go there. I did not have any problem when I use SL or my iphone, ipad or windows based PC works still fine. So it's a bug and APPLE MUST FIX.

Aug 1, 2011 6:05 AM in response to gokhankiby William Kucharski,No, I realize how incredibly annoying dropped Wi-Fi connections can be; I was in the same boat myself about three years ago now with an issue that ultimately did turn out to be an AirPort driver bug.
But the only way it got fixed was after ruling out router issues and after the collection of copious amounts of data by Apple.

Aug 1, 2011 7:36 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Markpf4,I have had this problem since installing Lion 4 days ago.
I have found several "solutions" posted across no less than 29 different support community threads (all accessed under the keyword pair Wifi and Lion)...but nothing has yet worked for me.
I will spare you a full list of the pain involved, restarts, SMC resets, Zapped PRAMs (remember that one?)...and even the command line stuff, the deleting and reinstalling java, and wifi network interfaces etc.
Th reason i am posting is i haev found a workaround until this gets fixed.
I have noticed, like others, that wifi drops on inactivity. So I haev a workaround that never lets my connection be inactive. What i ahev done is found a torrent tracker with unseeded torrets (it doesn't matter what but make it obscure), and then asked Transmission to get it. Problem solved, without any really perceptible loss of bandwidth.
Another solution for those of you on mobileme, would involve setting up for auto sync (which i have done for belt and braces) but that involves slowing the net down.
In the meantime Apple, please note at my latest count, the 29 threads had just short of 52,000 FIFTY TWO THOUSAND ) views. people do not surf the supprot communities for fun, Apple!
I have sent in my bug report, but it is about time someone at Apple acknowlegded the problem and at least told us someone was working on it. 52,000 people affected is not a small figure.
How would Apple like to pay back 52,000 Lion OS payments?

Aug 1, 2011 8:11 AM in response to Markpf4by nbooradley23,apple admit theres a problem!
Never!
It would go against the grain of image before product and lay waste the argument that their products work better out of the box vs pc's for instance.
I worked for apple twice and I can draw on one particular experience many years ago with the apple cube having cracks appear in the plastic! they would not admit a polymer issue and tried to get us to explain it away as the unit maturing like a piece of wood!!!
I almost laughed myself off the chair in the lab.
They can point all they like at router issues or 3rd party issues. the fact remains that the SL operating system in my house works with the current router setup. it is only lion that has this issue.

Aug 1, 2011 8:21 AM in response to lrogersinlvby sumwill,Since installing Lion, my HP Photosmart Printer is constantly not recognized, even though the wireless test comes out fine and I've added the network password many times. Ideas?

Aug 1, 2011 9:26 AM in response to alastairmacby sserschens,I agree with you as well except I've upgraded to new OSs from Apple the first week of release since 10.1 and I'm had issues with the majority of them. At first, I was surprised that I had no issues... until I put my MBP to sleep and woke it up later. I'm sure Apple will release 10.7.1 in the next two weeks based on previous updates, but I hope it includes a fix for the WiFi issues.

Aug 1, 2011 2:37 PM in response to sserschensby Chris-King,Lets just hope this article from AllNewsMac dated July 24th doesnt mean September 2011.
Quote:
What that means? a) OS X 10.7.1 Lion should arrive shortly. We wouldn’t be surprised if this happens this coming week. This is not uncommon for Apple as for example Mac OS X 10.6.1 Snow Leopard was released less than two weeks after Snow Leopard became available. b) OS X 10.7.2 Lion will probably be released at the same time like iCloud. We expect that this will happen around September.
Here is another link re Lion 10.7.1 -> http://www.tuaw.com/tag/10.7.1/

Aug 1, 2011 3:56 PM in response to Chris-Kingby Chris-King,Nice link here also on how to mount the Apple Recovery partition, and copy the Lion BaseSystem DMG off to the desktop so you can use somewhere else as a recovery disk. Note: this is not a full install - but recovery incase your drives go to the big sky upstairs.

Aug 1, 2011 4:20 PM in response to Chris-Kingby oisin_dubh,interstingly the wifi on hte macbook works fine with the airport extreme - it seems to be an issue with 2.4g sinc I have the airport runnng at the higher band. I dont seem able to get wifi on hte o2 router which feeds the airport extreme by wire. in SL laptop connected to either quite happily.
I wnder if there is a different protocol at work?

Aug 1, 2011 4:45 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Spannerdarl,I was having the same problem with wifi constantly dropping out, and Facetime no longer working, after I installed Lion.
I followed the suggestion, from someone in this forum, and set Auto Proxy Discovery (Network Preferences>Advanced>Proxies).
Has worked like a dream since and facetime now works too. I have my fingers crossed, only a few hours so far but much, much better.
