Aug 2, 2011 8:37 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Spannerdarl,Sorry, the Auto Proxy Recovery was a short term fix, ie not fix at all.
I have several devices running on the network, IMac, iPad and several iPod touches which come and go with visitors.
The network seems stable as long as the iMac running Lion doesn't access the network. When it does it often can't connect and often seems to make the network unavailable to the other devices. When this happens the fix is to turn the power off to the Airport Express.
If it is only the iMac failing then it is sufficient to turn the airport connection off and on in the drop down menu ie a software switch.
The real puzzle is why Apple seems to be MIA? They must know by now that there is a problem. If anyone hasn't send a report to Apple then I suggest you do so.
I'm posting this again because network vanished while is was trying to post it the first time. Apologies if I have doubled up.

Aug 3, 2011 6:43 AM in response to Spannerdarlby nbooradley23,Removed cisco linksys router WRT120N and putting in its place a borrowed BUFFALO N WHR-HP_GN. connected the mac and streamed some video from utube.
Initial testing seems that the issue is resolved! I have a feeing Lion has its problems with certain wireless chipsets and not others. My Cisco router uses Atheros Chip and the Buffalo uses a Broadcom Chip which I believe is Intel. Will do more testing today to make sure that the issue is resolved by using another router. If this is the case I do not blame the router manufacturer I blame APPLE!. The previous Snow Leopard had no problem talking to my WRT120N and this router was only 4 months old!, so I would expect the new O.S to talk as good if not better to the same router. The WRT120N is a Cisco Linksys router so its not some cheapy back street piece of kit. If it is the case the lion is at fault with this router I would expect apple to front the cost of me replacing it or at the very least refund the cost of Lion. fair and square...<Edited by Host>

Seems apple do not like me posting a link to my facebook community page regarding this issue.
Ok I wont do that from now on however i'm sure its not against the TOS that if you do a search on fb for apple lion wifi problems you will find the community.
since doing more testing I have noticed a patern forming with ATHEROS wifi chipsets not working but BROADCOM (intel) ones do!
Anyone interested in coming to the community and posting their router make and model so I can check what chipset it uses is more than welcome.
though it seems apple do not like to promote discussion of facebook community pages since editing my last post.
so I wont post the ful URL here for obvious reasons.
tsk tsk tsk apple I never took you to be the great firewall of china on discussion.. we are not trying to hurt your precious image but rather get to the root of whats causing this lion problem

Aug 3, 2011 10:42 AM in response to lrogersinlvby stonewolfapple,With 2 MacBook, 1 iMac, 1 iPad and 1 MacBook Pro I have found a partial solution. Still having interruption but less frequently by increasing GHz from 2,5 to 5.
Bug not totaly resolved but frequency has decreased to 1 or 2 occurences a day.
If you can try it it worth the effort but you have to put all your machine on this new network,

Aug 3, 2011 11:21 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Ingo Nau,WLAN connectivity problems since Lion here. Using a FRITZ!Box WLAN 3170 router which worked like a charme with SL. Apple should better release a fix, I'm pretty annoyed... seriously.

Aug 3, 2011 11:50 AM in response to nbooradley23by simon57,OK then, mine is a Netgear 834G v3. Lion on iMac won't connect to it all. SL running on separate HDD on same iMac - no problem. Haven't tried a hard wired connection, mainly because there are so many posts on here suggesting that Lion will actually muck up perfectly good existing connections that I daren't. Amazing isn't it, that just the kind of thing you fear from a virus, you get from downloading high end software from one of the most trustworthy organisations around? It's a funny old world!
I now regard Lion as a novelty, a cub that might one day grow up to be a serious OS. Until then, I will stick to the tried and tested SL.
Bit alarmed to hear that Apple censored your post. If that was just to protect their interests it suggest a worrying Big Brother kind of trend. Makes you think they might be a bit rattled. ------GOOD! They deserve to be with their current showing. Not so much a lion, more of a bull in a china shop.

Aug 3, 2011 12:27 PM in response to simon57by nbooradley23,From what i'm readind the V3 of your netgear router has a TI-AR7 chipset (texas intruments) it was v4 of the router that then uses the Broadcom chipset.
Your issue described mine where everything in the house would connect apart from the lion installation.
Once I installed a Broadcom based chipset router - in this case a buffalo router the problem seems to have gone away and the mac has been stable on WIFI since.
It seems more and more that the problem seems to be how lion works with certain wifi router chipsets.
I found it pretty orwellian of apple to remove my facebook link. it was not like it was spam or knocking them. All it is in a place where almost 50 of us are hanging out discussing the issue and sharing possible solutions and experiences. sheesh!
Anyway I'm not suggesting people run out and get broadcom based routers as a fix i'm just saying if you have access to one its worth testing it out to see does your wifi problem vanish.

Aug 3, 2011 12:47 PM in response to lrogersinlvby bob Keenan,I have same connectivity issue with Lion. But a little wierd. We have 2 MBP's. one is the 2.8 Ghz and the other 2.6Ghz. After Lion was installed the 2.8 works great. On the 2.6, everytime you wake it from sleep it shows a connection to my airport but no internet connectivity. If I go thru the painstaking diagnostics offered it fixes it till it goes to sleep. Cycling the wifi, on the MBP, off and on also fixes it.....till it goes to sleep. What a pain!

Aug 3, 2011 3:51 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Antdawe1,Similar issues here.
The wifi symbol is as it should but no Internet or network transfer connections. If I turn wifi off and back on it works fine again for a while. However, if my mac is constantly sending and receiving data it stays active so therefore I just leave a terminal screen open on a ping to a website. Low processing power and saves me smashing my mac to pieces :-)

Aug 3, 2011 6:35 PM in response to lrogersinlvby tekkietekkie, add another person to the list
just bought a 13.3" 2011 macbook pro today,I immedietly downloaded all the updates via wifi which worked perfectly, installed Lion that I downloaded via wifi and since the install the wifi is insanely slow ! its definetly not a problem with my wifi routers / internet my other pc's devices are working fine and I have tested the macbook on various wifi connections and its slow on all of them
anyone have any ideas on when this is going to be fixed? its a shame I have this thing for a few hours and already realize a major problem
