Aug 18, 2011 8:03 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Nogueira,10.7.1 didn't fix anything. Just another piece of garbage from the rotten Apple. Listen Apple, we are in 2011 and there's no excuse for such a ridiculous problem such as a wifi that doesn't work. At my house, all electronics with wifi, work perfectly, except the MacBook Pro with that piece of useless software named OS X Lion.

Aug 18, 2011 9:07 AM in response to lrogersinlvby R_2,update your lion to 10.7.1 and do these:
1)reset smc
2)reset pram
it works well for me.i've never suffer from the wifi problem since then.

Aug 18, 2011 9:24 AM in response to lrogersinlvby EchFam-DD,Dear all,
As one of the many who is also suffering from this issue, I have been following this discussion since approx page 25, and would offer the following comments:
-like others, I note that 10.7.1 has unfortunately not fixed the problem
-like others, I find this frustrating
-unlike too many others on here, I do my venting elsewhere (a very, very patient spouse helps, or else try screaming out the window a la Network for those of you who remember that film...), since I don't think my venting on here will help anyone of you...
-aiming to be a tad more constructive, at my end, I can attest to trying various fixes suggested on here and elsewhere, and have found only one that truly works: change your WLAN router's broadcast setting from "auto channel selection" to a fixed channel that you should choose from those that are supported by the wifi cards in all the Macs you're connecting to that net (look under "About this Mac>>More Info>>System report>>WiFi>>Interfaces>>Supported Channels on each Mac). In my case, I picked channel 36, and I have had stable wifi for nearly 2 weeks now.
Don't know if it'll help all of you but it's my 2 cents worth...
Good luck to all, and hey, let's try to help each other out here instead of just venting (which also has very limited entertainment value, to be honest...!
PS Have no spouse, and worried about neighbors getting upset? tNo worries: try invesdting in a good punching bag... and yes, you can even put an Apple logo, Steve's face, etc.. on it... Enjoy!

Aug 18, 2011 2:11 PM in response to lrogersinlvby Huli22,All is a bit controversal... in my case... when I first got my MBA couple days ago I had no problems with wi-fi on a Asus router. I went home and on a older TP-Link wireless router I could not connect to my home wi-fi network. All other devices(3 windows machines, iPhone and android cellphones) have no problem connecting. Firstly I had to clear Pram and NVram to even get a list of networks, as at first I could not see any around me... and trust me.. there is a ton around where I sit now .
After the setup I tried anything to get on a network - even a Personal Hotspot through my iPhone, but nothing helped, still Connection timeout!
Things I checked:
On Router: reseting router, changing channel, changing network mode to B from B,G
On MBA: setting manual IP, DHCP adress, removing all favourite networks, deleting network config files in /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ , Rebooting, reseting SMC, PRAM and NVRAM

Aug 19, 2011 12:51 AM in response to Huli22by Huli22,Update: Still having problems getting a network list... And in the network configuration I have, there are only three options for the TCP-IP for the IPv6: Automatically, Manually and Link-local only. No "off" option in there as some forum sites advised to turn this option off... can I do this manually by editing a config file?

Aug 19, 2011 1:07 AM in response to Huli22by AVRHack,Had assumed that since Apple clearly knows they really screwed up WiFi with Lion that at least 10.7.1 would have fixed it. But no it hasn't. It's still completely useless and unusable. iPhone and iPad connect perfectly to the same access point but the MBA will work for a while then suddenly decide it can't connect. Removing the AP from the network list and re-entering the password doesn't work. Rebooting the MBA doesn't work. The only way to fix it is to reboot the base station.
But before anyone says "it's the base station then stupid" - how come it works perfectly with the iPad and the iPhone then, but not the MBA with Lion - 10.7.0 or 10.7.1?
Rubbish this. One could expect some bugs in 10.7.0 but for Apple not to have sorted this properly in 10.7.1 is absolutely unforgivable.

Aug 19, 2011 2:18 AM in response to lrogersinlvby WebDevJames,This is really dissapointing of Apple. I own an iPhone and MacBook Pro that both connect without issues to my home wi-fi. My new Mac Mini on the other hand (that came pre-installed with Lion) has failed to work with wi-fi, although seems relatively stable for the first few days. Since then I've been unable to connect, having extremely poor speeds etc.
I was hoping 10.7.1 was fix it but no luck, I can now connect every time but the speed is ridiculously slow to the point of being unusable. I'm going to look into how I can get a refund or be given snow leopard. Can't believe a company like Apple would get something as fundamental as wi-fi wrong.

Aug 19, 2011 2:23 AM in response to lrogersinlvby priscillasmac,Frankly I find it hard to believe that Apple knowing how many people are having trouble with Lion has not worked harder to find a fix that works with everyone. Not just different patches for different people. No one had problems with Snow Lion ,maybe the truth is that Lion was just not ready to be put out for use yet,and maybe because so many people are having several different problems with it, it may never be ready. It has features that make it more like an I Pad but If I want an I Pad I'll buy one, I just want my mac pro to function flawlessly and a machine I can count on, and I don't want to find fixes daily to keep it connected to Wi fi.I think all Apple users deserve nothing less, for the loyalty and the price point of this product!

Do a search; there are many, many people who had similar problems in Snow Leopard, not to mention, Leopard, Tiger, Jaguar and as far back as you'd like to go.
As busy as this thread is, people having problems with this really do make up a very small minority of Lion users, as frustrating as the problem is when it occurs to you; I know by past experience when I purchased my first Intel MBP.

Read some of my previous posts - look for the "addition order" example.

Aug 19, 2011 4:33 AM in response to William Kucharskiby AKC322,I don't have the time or patience to search through 40 pages of posts. I expect, and I have every right to expect, that software will work as advertised out of the box. Lion is plagued with some kind of wi-fi issue that was not corrected in 10.7.1. While I acknowledge that it is virtually impossible to get every line of code to work perfectly from day one, this issue is far too widespread and far too well-documented to be ignored any longer. I have never had a black screen or the kind of trouble I'm having connecting to my (Apple) wi-fi network in any of the previous iterations of OS X. Apple's engineers need to get this problem solved once and for all or they should be refunding our money and giving us the ability to revert to Snow Leopard.

I tried everything as well, but this one works from EchFam-DD

Its been working for 30 minutes very well. I could never download a update for my IPOD touch, now it's nearly dowloaded 400 MB
Thanks EchFam-DD
Cheers

Aug 19, 2011 11:08 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Ingo Nau,I can't believe Apple didn't fix this with 10.7.1. I am not amused. Sometimes I wonder why I don't use Windows. Can't be much worse.

A minority of users having problems with Lion is still a shame and should make Apple work harder on the problem. Lion is out for about a month now and no fix is in sight. I was an Apple evangelist for years but this has changed.
