Q: Lion WiFi Connection Problem

Since installing Lion on both my IMac and MacBook Pro, the WiFi cycles (wifi icon on the menu bar) - looking for network - network on - looking for network. iMac with OS 10.6 doesn't have this problem so it's not the AirPort and there was no problem prior to installing Lion.  The AirPort Utility log shows lots of connection activity but I don't know if that means anything. The network troubleshooter says theres no problem but it's causing big problems with connection speed and applications that need a constant connection are giving me network errors constantly.  Please give me some advise....

    I don't think Apple is ignoring this—especially as the views on this thread now number about 3500. However, the posts only number some 50, suggesting the problem might not be as widepread as those of us affected feel it is.

    If the posts hit 3500 in the next few days, it might be different.

    To get a faster acknowledgement out of Apple, it needs to hit the mainstream sites like AppleInsider, MacIntouch, etc.

    The odd thing is that this problem was not in DP3 and maybe not DP4 but it was certainly there in the developer GM release and Apple was informed of it.

    Everyone posting here with the problem also needs to file a bug report with Apple (http://bugreport.apple.com); that will raise a red flag too.

    I hope there is a 10.7.1 patch in Software Updates soon.

    Hello, I upgraded my new iMac 27 to Lion yesterday and I have the same problem: when iMac comes back from sleep, Wifi appears to be connected (icon in taskbar is black, full signal) but I have not internet connection. I need to deactivate/reactivate airport to be able to go online again.

     

    REALLY ANNOYING!!!!

     

    Note: I had 0 problem with Snow Leopard.

    Same here, installed Lion and my Wi-Fi does not work at all, i went to settings to turn it on but nothing happens...wow very disapointing, what a goof!

    hope they fix this soon

    I had a similar problem, my wifi kept timing out.

    So I went and clear the cache.... and then I unpluged my router and it works fine now

    ALL you have to do is clear the cache in Safari...don't restart

    Then unplugg the router, plug back up and connect.... it should work fine after that.

    I'm having the same problem as well.  Never had an issue until I upgraded to Lion

    I am having the same problem. I have a 20" iMac and the wifi keeps droping off and when it is connected, it's super slow. I also have a 15 MBP and a mac mini that seem to be working fine. Frustrating!!!

    Same problem here, upgrade 3 machines, two newer ones are OK older macbook is a no go. Please post a fix that works I've tried all of the ones already suggested with no success.

    my one week old Mac Book Pro 13" worked great with Snow Leopard, but since the Lion upgrade my company's WiFi network isn't connecting anymore. At home and in coffee shops it all works fine, but this one I just can't get to connect anymore... just like BT Openzone - but that never worked for me even though I'm apparently a member.

     

    Lion was free for me because of the Up-To-Date programme but I may just get that time machine backup out and go back to Snow Leopard. If it ain't broken, don't fix it!

    Hello all,

    I come from Italy. All my friends have the same problem with WiFi connction with Lion. Could you know if are foreseen updating version for the Lion withuot this problem?

    Changing the channel my router broadcasts on from automatically selecting one to 11 seems to have been the solution for me.  Might not be for everyone else.

    Im glad its just not me, but most everyone else.

    See... I told you all that most likely Lion would be a bitter pill to swallow.

    That is, until the updates arrive from apple to fix "issues".

    WiFi is a mess under Lion. It wont connect to my 5G at all.

    And non-5G connects but drops off every so many minutes.

     

    This is not Adobe or flash or this or that... Its a Lion bug.

    Dont bother jumping through hoops to fix this on the user end.

    The "fix" is solely in apples ballpark.

     

    I figured this would happen....

    After upgrading to Lion I had wifi problems (intermittent connection) on my iMac and MBP, iPad and AppleTV. It was only resolved when I reset my DSL wifi router, starting from factory settings. Since then everything has been working for 24 hours without a glitch.

    Note that I just tried to eject my time machine backup drive, set my iMac to sleep, restarted it and this time my Wifi connection worked (no DNS error message). I wonder if it is related..?

     

    This is so frustrating. I pretty much tried all possible workaround. Steve, we will need your help...

    I am not an expert but I think the following excerpt from kernel.log shows what happens when wi-fi goes away (in my case):

    Then I start the network-diagnostics and wi-fi works again (for 5 to 10 minutes...):

    This definitely must be BUG and as google and this community show me I`m not the only one having this problem! Hurry up APPLE!!!
