Then I connected to my network again and after about a month it still looks like the problem is resolved.
I've passed your post to a friend immediately after I read it on Aug. 27. He had already installed LION to his MBAir and was going mad with his wireless for about 3 weeks.
In addition to your post I recomended him to repair the permissions before setting up the new networks.
He went thru your advise and
- power of the router
- delete all known networks
- delete the AirPort (en1)
- delete all wireless passwords from keychain
- delete on /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration the files
com.apple.airport.preferences.plist and com.apple.network.identification.plist - delete on /User/<name>/Library/Preferences the files
com.apple.internetconfigpriv.plist and com.apple.internetconfig.plist - reboot the MBA (still no power on the network)
- repair permissions on MacIntosh HD
- reboot MBA again
- power on the network
- go to system preferences, add AirPort and do the needed settings
- activate AirPort on the MBA and connect (DHCP), give the passphrase for the network
Since then wireless network on his MBA runs without any disturbance.
Hope your tips work for others well too.
regards - Lupunus

Aug 29, 2011 9:24 PM in response to nipper123by PJRives,FYI. Those are NOT Apple employee emails. If you send messages to those particular addresses, some poor innocent folks are going to get slammed with nasty emails for no reason
All Apple employee emails are @apple.com

Aug 29, 2011 9:50 PM in response to jamianaby PJRives, saying you can't do a clean install with Lion is actually not true. You can via the recovery partition that Lion creates
Then you can use the application install disk that can with your computer to reinstall iLife and so on

Aug 30, 2011 4:54 AM in response to lrogersinlvby Luxur,Hi there,
Has anyone tried this.... i tried this about a week ago and internet has been flying :-)
Someone else posted this... I can't recall who?
I went into my router settings (Thomson Gateway) and changed the channel setting from automatic to manual. I selected channel 12 and the IMAC was fine, but then my MACBOOK AIR wasn,t so I went to another channel that suited both. (You should find the channel setting under home network / interfaces / then up to the left is configurations)
Go to ABOUT THIS MAC, system report, then click on wi-fi and you will have achoice of channels.
hope this helps..
cheers from downunder

Aug 30, 2011 1:49 PM in response to lrogersinlvby flanarybm,I am having a similar problem. I am using a Time Capsule and it seems to be affecting it while in the backup process. I thought this would have been resolved in 10.7.1, but it was not. I've had to resort to hard resetting my computer a few times. Thanks for the post. I'll try some of the solutions below before we get a bug fix.

Aug 31, 2011 11:28 AM in response to DaPunkby lupunus,ok ... thats a QOS (Quality of Service) variant.
My old router have this, but it never had any influence to the connection.
So I think that the real reasons was the WMM thing. Just a lucky event, that disabling this works for you.
Whats the type of router you use?

Aug 31, 2011 2:29 PM in response to JonPiby Tetonshel,Sorrry but this not quite responsive but didn't know how else to raise issue. I'm holding back on installinig lion because of all the chatter regarding lion and wifi. Are people who are having these problems (and there appears to be a lot of them) having them with airport extreme or are they connected with other routers?
