Ikkyusan,
as there no specific information in your post I cant give a clear answer about your problem.
But, droping iTunes or Video streams is mostly caused by bad packets in the network leading the server (source) or the client (recipient) to quit the connection.
Maybe there where no problems before (with SLeo) but it is not based on Lion at all.
Give this a try and post results please: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16058987#16058987

Sep 11, 2011 2:28 PM in response to lupunusby ikkyusan,Thanks for this lesson about bad packet, but the same bad packet doesn't seems to affect SL.
I am not trying to find a solution here, but propose a patch myself. And this one of pinging my router it's just keeping my connection up and running for hours. The problem I have is the same of everybody, wi-fi connection drops, and all the operations related to wi-fi fail, not only streaming or downloading.
Feel free to think this is not a Lion issue.

Sep 11, 2011 11:36 PM in response to lrogersinlvby leduch,I don't like to be rude usually but this lupunus guy makes me want to be.
Dozens of people in this thread state that they experience problems since they upgraded to Lion and that everything worked fine before and you keep saying it's not a Lion problem?
I tried all tricks given and managed to get a working connection in my office but guess what, i did not buy a macbook air to be stucked in my office and i want to be able to connect anywhere in this **** world.
Right now i'm at mac donalds and i have to use my iPhone as a modem beacause i can not use their free hotspot. There are 5 others free hotspots in my Wi-Fi list (i'm in the center of Paris) and NONE of them work with my mac. Do you understand that? NONE!
Are you stupid enough to think that all those major companies have "infrastructure issues" on their hotspots and that's it's still not a Lion issue?
Please believe what you want but don't pollute this thread and don't despise people who experience this problem! Some of them (me included) also have good computer knowledge, you're not the only smart person in this wide world you know.

G'morning to Paris!
i belief you that the fact to sit in the office, at home or even at McBurger and can not get a WiFi connection is very annoying. No doubt about that.
And I clearly see that the affected people are upset and disappointed about that.
But, as said from me and frequent others with trillions of more points here than me, it's "mostly" not a Lion or hardware problem. I'm a Tech, not a kitchen advisor and I've experienced thousands of "Since XY-System my WiFi ..." and "Yesterday as I was on former YX-System all worked" story's since 1993. Guess what? For about 95% of the trouble the new XY system was not the reason.
But, I tend to handle the problems from a cold proffesional tech view not from the concerned side. The companies assigning me, pay quite well for that and expect solutions not emotions.
So just to give it a try ...
- Take another coffee and open System Settings.
- Go to WiFi (Airport)
- Set up a new location with nothing in
- Check "Remember networks this computer has joined" on the advanced window
- Uncheck "Ask to join new networks"
- Reboot
Try to join the McDonalds WiFi again over the WiFi symbol in the menu bar.

Sep 12, 2011 1:17 AM in response to lrogersinlvby leduch,Absolutely hopeless... Do you really think i did not try that?
I'll make you save time : i've tried everything you could think of, update Lion, clean favorites networks, create specific location, nothing worked. The only thing that worked for me was to set my network to a specific channel at my office but it only works in my office of course.
The problem seems to be that Lion probes wifi networks constantly, network utility shows lots of packets sent even though no sotware is opened.
I consider myself as a tech advisor as well (do you really want to compare our résumé?) and i can hardly agree with you, most of the time when something goes wrong after you change only one parameter the problem comes form this parameter. It is the base of any scientific experiment, you change one parameter and look what's happening, here the only parameter changed for all those people is Lion, not admitting it can be considered as blindness in the better case.

Just for info, would you tell me which channel you set? Be so kind and also check for more info's about the working network by holding option (alt) key when clicking on the WiFI symbol in the menu bar.

The packets on the network are normal behavior. There is constantly traffic like: hello I'm new here, who are you, I'm xy, lets connect, nope wrong key and so on.
The "constantly probing" is a track, as the WiFi on Lion (as well as on latest systems with 10.6.8 after EFI Update) seems very sensible tuned for modern multiband, multiprotocol WiFi with MIMO ect.
I've had a lot of trouble with Audio/Video dropouts and connection cut off's in the network, with my own WiFi after updating my MBPro 2011.
It came out, that the MBP WiFi was constantly switching between 2.4 GHz "n" and 5 GHz "n" -as long as the SSID and pass was the same- to catch always the very best signal.
Also the so called "compatibility mode" to integrate 811.g clients with 811.n connected systems in the same network creates trouble. It seems that this "compatibility mode" is not a perfect working solution at now.
All that leads to bad packets in the network, causing client disconnects and network cut off.
For me, pressing the WiFi router and the Clients to a single frequency (SSID), solves the trouble.
Unfortunately, one can not tell McD or other public WiFi distributors, to change there WiFi settings to personal needs.
For that I was suggesting
the "new location" thing, with only one Network SSID in
uncheck the "Remember the networks this computer has joined" for the new location,
delete the Network on the new location from the "Automatic" location.
There is another question.
Did your MB connect to a public WiFi but there is no throughput / login or did the MB don't get any connection?
If there is basically a connection, check the network info by holding down "alt" key when clicking on the WiFi symbol to compare the upcoming info with your working WiFi.
Just for curiosity. Have you ever tried to connect the public WiFi at the Apple store? Does that work for you?

Sep 12, 2011 7:38 AM in response to lrogersinlvby ChristianMoehler,Hello!
I found out, that the WIFI-problem has something to do with the Bluetooth-function.
So I turned bluetooth off, and deleted following files in "Library" --> "Preferences":
com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile
After a reboot all was fine.
But if I reinstalled my Magic-Mouse and Wireless-Keybord, it is all the same and the Wifi-problem still occures.
I hope that the new update to 10.7.2 solves this problem - I can't understand why Lion was released with this issues of main functions.

Sep 12, 2011 7:56 AM in response to lupunusby randall1649,Well... I just reinstalled snow leopard. Had to make a new apple ID just to get back into the apple forums. My usual ID would not work, as is the case with so many other users here (another issue).
ANyway... NO WI-FI CONNECTION LOSS ISSUES !!!!
Soooooo glad my big iMac guy is once again happy and peaceful, as am I.
Been installing everything back and using for about 7 hours now, and not one single Wi-Fi drop issue.
I really hate to suggest this, for those burdened with the terrible wi-fi drop thing in Lion, but reverting back to snow leopard does make one a happy camper once again.
I feel like Im using a mac again, and not some lame windows os.
When I was living in the pc ms windows world, I had down pat reinstalling every version of ms windows.
But this was my first with reinstalling on an iMac.
I had backed up everything manually, the safari Bookmarks.plist (the only way to smoothly backup your bookmarks), stickies database, iCal database, and iTunes media folders.
Reinstalled snow leopard from my original disc's, using my same login info so as to not mess or change anything as far as original system registration.
Then went thru all the snow leopard osx updates. Everything went extremely well and smoothly. Not one issue or quirk with restoring my system back to factory. Best of all, everything system wise is now working flawless, just like I was use to, before I upgraded to Lion.
Yes... It can be done, a system restore back to snow leopard! And done very smoothly.
I may try Lion, someday, again, way down the road, when I am assured they have fixed all the bugs.
But until then, my hard learned motto is... if it is not broken, don't fix it.
With all the suggestions and Lion wifi fixes listed here, there and everywhere, all the hoop jumping, I can assure everyone that this fix works!
That's all... Im done...

Sep 12, 2011 7:56 AM in response to randall1649by ChristianMoehler,Unfortunately this does not work for new MacBook Air (2011)-users.
You can only install Lion but not Snow Leopard - the USB-stick with SnowLeopard would not be recognized.
I hope, that 10.7.2 fixes this wifi / bluetooth bug

Bluetooth use 2.4 GHz (as WiFi does) and for that interferences can occur if the channels are to close.
Disable BT, switch to a WiFi channel with less interference or set network to 5GHz only has worked well for some users.
Unfortunately, disabling BT will be no real option for those who have to use BT e.g. for keyboard.

Sep 12, 2011 9:43 AM in response to T2008by wackerow,I am having very similar problems, both at home and school. Many suggestions involve router altercations, which at home may be an option but not at school. Point being, we shouldn't have to be tech nerds to use Wifi with Lion... THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
I never lose connection to the SSID, but within 15-20 minutes of restoring working Internet my MBP will quietly stop any connection w/ the Internet (no obvious signs like an exclamation point through the wifi logo, but websites suddenly stop loading and eventually time out) until I turn off Wifi and turn it back on. This has been consistent ever since installing Lion this past week, and other non-Lion computers on our network have working Internet without interruption.

Sep 12, 2011 9:55 AM in response to wackerowby onlocation,I agree we shouldn't have to be tech nerds thats why we own Macs, I have had these same issues after installing Lion, I get tired of seeing all this fixes and suggestions and in some case bordering on arrogant, the communties used to be a much nicer place to post a question and discuss problems in a friendlier manor. Apple needs to step up and acknowlege some of the bugs in Lion and come up with an update. I am sorry I installed Lion without looking further into it, at least I only installed on my imac so far and not my mac book pro.

Sep 12, 2011 12:02 PM in response to lrogersinlvby jamiana,For all of you that are fed up, I would suggest calling Apple Corporate <Edited by Host>
Wait for the operator.
Tell her you want customer relations in regards to Lion and its wifi disconnect flaws, and LET THEM HAVE IT.
PERHAPS if they hear from enough customers who are fed up and will not buy another product of theirs it may be fixed before the next os is realeased.

Sep 12, 2011 10:26 AM in response to lrogersinlvby jamiana,Apple's silence is proof enough for me that this os was released in part to use us, their customers, as guinea pigs to find out what is wrong with it.
Never have they issued an os as tragically bloated and flawed as this.
Corporate accounts will not touch it or any machine running it.
Devoted customers are kicked to the curb to suffer through the seemingly endless stream of problems with an os from a company that does not even include java support built in, not to mention apple's documented hatred for flash.
The growing line of potential fixes for this one Apple killing flaw in an os that is tragically flawed is painful to read day after day, irritating beyond words to have a tech support staff that is impotent to help, and a corporate scene LESS STEVE JOBS that simply does not care. If they did, this would be sorted out. It is not. They do not care. This growing list of customers dying to have this work goes on and on.
NO ONE should be forced to become some type of tech nerd just to have a computer turn on, stay on, connect to a network and stay connected.
This is a crime to put it mildly, a crime against Apple customers.
What you see here in these forums and others are just those that bother to come here and find a solution, a tiny fraction of millions of apple customers having the same issues, even with machines that have lion factory installed on new machines. I know this for a fact because i have told two friends who did not take advise to avoid anything with Lion on it for now, to return their machines for a full refund, or machines, if any are left, with Snow Leopard on them.
The nonsense continues. Apple does not care.
