Hi,

Adding further information, making "repair permissions" using disk utility shows that most permissions are repaired, except in the middle of process it shows "Group differs on “Library”; should be 0; group is 80." about 3-4 times. But doesnt display anything that it is repaired.

Also right at the end of the process it shows this warning "Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired."

Hi,

Some problem - Airbook before start 20 sec after Lion upgrade over 4-5 minutes, Airbook model winter 2010. Before 20.7. fast running hardware with SL, now after upgrade I have very slow old Lion with loosing breath if I try to start run....

I have also very old MacMini, but on this computer Lion works great!

I try repaire permissions and cleared out the cache - many time, but not help. I close all aplication before restart, I try safe boot and repair permission, delete caches nothing help.

First come very fast logo of Apple, but after background change a little color, comes mouse cursor and need 4-5 minutes !!! before come login dialog.

I read many internet resources, but nothing help - please - one question to everybody - if I try repair permission in several modes - from disk utility, from terminal, from safe boot mode, but if I try after all is one warnig, all others disk utility says was repaired, but if after repair of permisson I start verify, this find again the some problems in the some files...

Some ideas there? I like to wake-up my "tired Lion" and make him run fast from start I not like to go back to SL, but if no solution, I will need to do ...

Thanks !!!

Hi,

a) about the repair of permission - I found article, that this we can probably ignore ...

"Warning: SUID file 'System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent' has been modified and will not be repaired." You can safely ignore these warnings; see this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448

b) I am trying to solve Lion boot time problem with Airbook and I still cannot find some solution, I try many recommendation but nothing works ...

Some information about my Airbook - model winter 2010, 4GB RAM, 128Gb SSD, perfect works with Snow Leopard till 20.7. with very fast start time (login dialog between 15-18 sec from power on) but after Lion those parameters :

1. Power start after shutdown - 4:25 min comes login screen

2. If I press Restart on login screen (just for test) time to go back to login screen 3:17 min

3. Shutdown 4 second to switch off (2 second faster as SL)

Comparing my tree days ago starting time same hardware, same application but SL from power off to login dialog about 15 second - TERRIBLE and no-one can accept that.

I start Airbook and very fast come Apple logo and mouse cursor (about 9-10 second), but after very long time nothing, only about (2:50-3:10 min) screen 2 or 3 times a little change color of background and after between 4:10 - 4:55 min usually comes login window.

For notebook like Airbook with SSD disk and 4GB RAM is no way to wait so long time, I can accept maximum about 10-15 second longer boot as Snow Leopard , but now I feel like I was before using Windows ... never ever those waiting times !!! I hope this is only some short BUG with will be updated in hours or in next days ...

I hope that someone very fast found the solution, otherwise I must to restore SL and Lion use only on my old MacMini ... there are not problems... Have someone here already experience what is the SAFEST way completely restore my Snow Leopard back from Lion on Airbook?

I found on internet that very many people with Airbooks have some experience, some of them waiting longer as me - over 5 minutes ... I think this is really serious problem Airbook x Lion and I hope that solution from Apple comes very soon....

Till 20.7. I was very happy with Apple Airbook and operation system, now I feel really very sad ... big mistake to make so fast upgrade, If I know that I will wait till Apple correct those problems.. I first make update on my MacMini (OK also need some settings that all works like before - for example doubled mail inboxes etc..., but after half a day of setting is all great), because most important for my work is Airbook and after I see upgrade on MacMini is OK I make upgrade on Airbook and ... very, very disappointed ...

WOOW ! I found solution !

Now my Airbook with Lion from power on button start to login window 14 second !!!

Shutdown 3 second !!!

I was so much sad from this change of my Airbook that I start to monitor many process around and I see some network traffic with long boot and this bring me to think about authorization and I found the solution - Network Account Server !!!

I found two possible ways how to go out of this time-boot problem after Lion upgrade:

a) if you connect again to your LAN on which you join Network Account Server and login / logout succesfully (must comes green software "led" indicator in system preferences - UsersxGroups) and after make logout/login again and after shutdown in this network. After you can disconnect your Mac from network and all comes back like before !

b) if you have not possibility to connect to your network, just delete all what is in "red" under settings for Network Account Server till comes back "Join" button in UsersxGroups screen. After restart your computer and all is WORKING WELL !!!

I try to make restore from Time Machine after upgrade (all boot time problems comes back), but in both ways which I describe a) or b) you will be out of problems. I checked twice and this solve my problems.

Maybe some tip for Apple - if notebooks are joined to some networks before and after you make upgrade to Lion out of your "home" or "work" networks, you receive those problems as I describe here.

Now I have "back" my lovely Airbook with parameters which I like. I hope that this will help to the others also and we all can use Lion on Airbook without time-boot problem!
