Universal Access (Accessibility) Zoom

I keep loosing the ability to use the Universal Access Zoom feature (which I need because of vision problems) since installing Lion. When it happens I have to Log Out and sigh back in to get it to work again (or Restart). It seems to happen after the computer has been inactive for a while, maybe after screen has gone to sleep. I have tried putting the computer to sleep but this does not seem to cause the same problem, however, the Zoom is very slow to respond the first time it is used after Sleep.

Anyone had similar problems? Anyone know how to fix it?

I put the iMac to sleep over night and when I woke it up in the mornigh I had lost my Zoom. I had to Log Out and Log In again to get Zoom back again. However, if I manually put the computer to sleep for a short time (a coouple of minutes) I can still use the Accessibility Zoom but is is very slow to respond at first. Somehow the Sleep process is affecting this feature.

Today I have disabled the Compter Sleep and Display Sleep and so far I have not lost the Zoom even after long periods of inactivity (except for receiving e-mails).

Later I will try it with Display Sleep back on and see what happens. If that is OK I will try it with Computer Sleep on agin.

You say "The Zoom in Window function is working after inactivity, but that's it."

It is not clear what you mean. Are you refering to the Zoom in the Universal Access in the System Preferences? Is it working for you or not? Can you describe what causes the Zoom to stop working? For example is it only after the computer goes to sleep or the display goes to sleep, etc. How do you get Zoom working again?

Glad I found this thread as I was beginning to think I was alone here!! Seam thing - Zoom stopsworking when I wake the computer after the screen goes to sleep. I use "caffeine" (Find it on the App Store) which essentially stops the computer going to sleep. With caffeine running, the Zoom feature stays active.

Hopefully Apple will pick this bug up and fix in an update soon??!!

I have this Zoom problem as well... I believe the bug involves an interaction between Screensaver and Energy Saver's "Display Sleep" function.

If "Display Sleep" occurs when Screensaver is not active, Zoom in and out work fine when I start using the system again.

If "Display Seep" occurs when Screen Saver is active, Zoom in and out do not work when I start using the system again... Then, If I invoke screensaver (as mentioned above), Zoom In and Out work again....

Interestingly, while Zoom in and out are not working, the "Zoom In" and "Zoom Out" text on the Universal Access Screen is dimmed even though Zoom "On" buton remains "dotted". Once screensaver is invoked and Zoom In and Out are functioning again, the "Zoom In" and "Zoom Out" text is no longer dimmed.

After a few Display Sleeps with Screen Saver off, or Never, the Zoom seems to be much more reliable. I think that 'Oldnetworkingguy' has it about right. But I have also had a few problems with Spaces not working properly while experimenting with this, so there may be more going on than just the Zoom and Screen Saver interaction.

But it is certain that Apple has a bug to fix here. Thanks for the input everyone and don't forget to do what 'qojop' suggests and send your feedback to Apple.
