Secondary Click on Original MacBook Air (2008) Won't Stay On

The title says it all: Original (early 2008) MacBook Air, upgraded today to Lion. When I go into System Preferences > Trackpad, the Secondary Click checkbox is turned OFF. If I turn it on and then exit System Preferences, secondary click does NOT work and if I go back in to System Preferences > Trackpad, the checkbox is turned OFF again.

Has anyone else seen this? Anyone have any ideas as to how to remedy this issue? Apple? Bueller?

Happened to me too. I talked with AppleCare today to get it fixed. They gave me a different way than in the other thread.

First they had me verify that it worked if I created a new account on my Air.

To fix it I had to back up my Users/.../Library/Preferences directory then wipe it out and reboot. That did it!

(did need to copy com.apple.mail.plist back)
