I used to use a two finger swipe to go back a page in safari, chrome, iTunes, mac app store, and several other apps. This feature no longer is there. Instead it switches between dashboard/spaces which I do like but I would rater bring back the original feature. Any way to bring this back?

Use one finger swipe now. It will do what you want.

Edit: System Preferences > Mouse > Swipe between pages > click the down arrow > can be changed to two finger swipe
Somewhat confusingly, you do a 4 finger swipe to go back and forth in itunes and a two finger swipe to go back and forth in safari. The two finger sideways swipe in itunes is reserved for coverflow and the boxes on the itunes store.
