Preview app. won't print or save as pdf

Since udated to Lion last night, I have been unable to print or use the "save as pdf" from the Preview app.

From other programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Pages, Numbers, Firefox, Safari etc. the

print function works without any problems.

Since printing from other programs works fine, I have to assume that the problem is with the Preview app.

The printer, if you need to know is a network printer Apeosport-II FX C5400.

I'm using Macbook Pro 2010

Processor 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7

Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB

Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7 (11A511)

Please advise

Carolyn - Maybe i'm looking in the wrong area. But I can't seem to find that file. I'm going to my hard drive, then library and then preferences... in this folder I cannot find com.apple.preview.plist

Any ideas ?

Pahu - Thank you, but I'd really like to get this working. Do you really think it is a driver problem? as I had said in my original post, printing works fine with other apps including pdfpen. I don't understand why only preview would have this problem if it's a driver issue. It also won't explain the issue about not being able to save as pdf.

Thanks for your info.

It could be a combination of the driver and Preview. Have you tried adding a printer with the Generic PostScript PPD and then trying to save as PDF in Preview? That won't help if you are using features specific to the driver though. Use Acrobat as Pahu suggests if you need driver-specific features.

Hope this helps.

As John as mentioned, the problem is a combination of the driver and Preview (and TextEdit with the Canon's). So, also as John has mentioned, creating a print queue using Generic PS or Generic PCL are good workarounds until the printer vendor releases an updated driver - is this Apeosport an EFI Fiery?

So I've now managed to figure out how to print from within preview using my works network printer.

Has something to do with the Job Accounting. When I select print, from the file menu I then have the option list showing preview, layout etc... if I go down the list and select job accounting before pushing print then it works. The accounting setting ie.. password etc.. are already set. I'm not changing any settings, i'm just selecting Job Accounting in the menu before I push print. Hope this helps anyine else.

It is the Canon Driver. I tried everything multiple times and NOTHING worked until I deleted my work printer that is a large Canon UDR. Just need to have my IT guy figure out if it's fixed yet. Will Google it now. Thanks everyone.

The OP had a Fuji Xerox, not a Canon. I mentioned the issue that Canon has stated with their current UFR2 driver with TextEdit and Preview on Lion because it sounded similar.

For your IT guy's benefit. Canon will be releasing an updated UFR2 driver later this month to support Lion. In the meantime they state to use Adobe Acrobat Reader or Safari to open and print PDFs.

Or if your Canon office copier supports the Postscript or even PCL printer language, then you use a different driver to the UFR2.
